Warning: Snake Has Made its Way to Gilgit Baltistan

Not that recent - I’d say 2007 or so. What I wanted to highlight was that it was from a serving gentleman so the “demoralizing ” is part of the very system designed to protect it.

It is not a state specific issue, the problem with the national character is either being obsessed with self aggrandizement and bluster and/or self depreciation, moral/ethnical corruption.
There is no balance to the majority in any form: social, religious, monetary, racial attitudes etc.

In such an environment, any tom,dick and harichand can use the power of monetary, fame or familial compulsion to get people in influential positions to defect in purpose.

There is an MQM leader I know through verified testimony who can get you an Indian visa by a single phone call - but is also in rapport with agencies and their darling for times they need to tackle PPP influence.

Everyone in power has one foot out of Pakistan for themselves and their families. That includes our top brass.

Change can only come from the masses. And it's not going to be fast a la some revolution but a slow and steady process which might take decades. As soon as the middle class man switches to the upper middle class, he becomes part of the same enabling mafia.

This is what happens when you keep a population deprived. I have see indignation in every Gilgit-Baltistani person I know, and I know many. They blame the military for Pakistan's Kashmir policy, which comes at the cost of their region's progress. I do not blame them.

Hour mazay lo! The indignation against the federation is still not as severe as it is in Balochistan. We have yet to reach the point of no return. For the sake of our country, I hope the establishment learns quickly.

Do you want to make him a hero? Hell no. Snakes like him eventually discredit their own selves. Look at Altaf Hussain and Nawaz Sharif. Taking him out would only legitimize him.

This is all believable.. The thing is , army or agencies for that matter come from the society which is also very much divided and prejudiced. Not to mention general rot in education which directly leads to poor critical thinking skills.

Also , I would give him a pass. 2007-2014 were very rough year especially when it came to casualty counts. However , I agree with the crux of your posts. Few loyal men or women who serve this country without any need for appreciation or monetary gain keep it together somehow. Very sad state of affairs.

As for the MQM part .... True as well. Had the unfortunate destiny to be their supporter in the past . Left them when it was glaringly evident what they were up to and prepared for it(You know the story of how so many of NATO containers went missing ) . Also , I would say they had very very sinister intentions that goes well beyond having contact with indians.

Contingency plan hai aapke paas koi? Karachi ya Lahore ya abroad beth ke aap kese keh sakte hain ke kuch nahi hoga. Opportunists will milk every inch of this to their benefit if the state makes a misstep.

Pakistanis are so trigger happy. Think about the side effects of an action not just for now but 5-10 years in the future. Ek Naqeeullah Mehsud ki death ko leke Afghaniyon ne poori ek movement bana di.

There are other smarter ways to deal with these issues.
