The visit to the orphanage was touching. I’ll put up pictures. Kate loves helping children’s charities.

These kids on pdf. No respect. They come as visitors, not conqueror's. 1800s was a different era, so get over it

Yes.
Of course the Brits took advantage of the Subcontinent. They were colonizers. They out-competed other colonizers in the Subcontinent like the Dutch and the Portuguese etc. It was the age of colonialism when the European powers were roaming the world, looking for opportunities. So some other power would have won in the Subcontinent had it not been the British Empire. The result would likely have been Dutch or Portuguese as the official language post-Colonial era. What advantage would that be for Pakistan in the modern world? If you see the Western tourists currently in Pakistan they are glad to see the prevalence of English. And also, despite lagging behind in IT jobs compared with India in the Western world, Pakistanis are still ahead of the curve because of the English language advantage.

I find the English to be far better colonizers than all others if one were to be condemned with one. The English Empire was very disciplined and left behind a lot of infrastructure and legal system in their former colonies.

As for them 'sheltering terrorists' like Altaf Hussain, one needs to know that the English have a long history of providing shelter to even their own supposed enemies like Karl Marx and many philosophers and intellectuals from the continental Europe. The English record may not be perfect but I'd still consider their tolerance far better than other European powers, especially the French, when it comes to tolerating unwanted elements of the world. That alone is another topic for history buffs!

Let the Prince and the Princess enjoy their stay in Pakistan. Their presence in Pakistan brings much needed positive attention to Pakistan. Pakistanis should accept any support they can get at this time. Have we forgotten what was Pakistan's global image like barely a few years ago? Now even the backpacker Western tourists have helped revive Pakistan's positive image.

If I was the PM then I would not even let them enter Pakistan and its airspace until I get an official apology over the atrocities of the English and the return of all our riches, including the Koh-i-Noor. ;)

@Ace of Spades love your viewpoints. Stay woke. :enjoy:
And you also kind of gave the reason why you should not be the prime minister.

Such high profile visits helps soften image of Pakistan worldwide

Fantastic visit

Well the old Subcontinent of 1800 and Prior was a complex piece of landmass
  • Portugues were there
  • Netherland was there
  • French were there in 1600's (Untill 1954)
  • Finally, the Danish were there
An important part to also understand is "The East India Company was a Contractor, a Corporation" , they were a corporation. They were merely like Exxon Mobile of Past world going around country to country looking for resources they paid a duty/tax to British Government

The Royals never owned East India Company

"In 1600, a group of English businessmen asked Elizabeth I for a royal charter that would let them voyage to the East Indies on behalf of the crown in exchange for a monopoly on trade. The merchants put up nearly 70,000 pounds of their own money to finance the venture, and the East India Company was born." - Part of History

The body acted independently to deal with foreign nations create treaties and agreements

They Employed private army by own funds
Company's authority was revoked after 1858

During the Carnatic Wars between England vs France the focus shifted from trade to owning Land and Territory
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnatic_Wars

These wars happened prior to Nepoleon being born

That world no longer exists :big_boss:
