First came Cyril Almeida's article in Dawn, he claimed to be privy to all the goings-on at a top brass meeting between PM House and ISI.
He penned a lot of heavy stuff but had no source for it, some unknown folk believed this or believed that.
Notwithstanding this impediment, his article was feverishly copied all over India and Bingo!
Even landed up on Western media.

Way to go, Cyril.
The noise from this 'article' hadn't died down yet, soon the Nation also came up with one on how DG ISI would be transferred, again using un-named sources. This article was penned by Salman Masood of NYT fame.
It is truly beyond me how these fellers are getting published without disclosing sources, when we write articles, good newspapers and journals make us hyper-link all the stats and give references.

What happened to Dawn, the High Priestess of world-class journalism, how are these flaky articles making it to publication?
Or are the standards lowered for the cause of going anti-Pakistan, starting a diversion from Kashmir and making things uncomfortable for the Army that vows to protect CPEC.

Aha, so it is about CPEC, folks.
Now there will be one illegitimate article daily to strike at Pakistan or its army, by the very same media houses that earn their bread and butter in Pakistan.

Tomorrow there will be another fictional article in Pakistan media.

Now one obvious explanation is that they are trying to be fair and even-handed and not take sides. While it may seen sophisticated on paper, the fact is that most news sources today have consistent positions on most issues, which makes the Dawn appear scatter-brained at times.

Why would Pakistanis be made uncomfortable by clowns as long as the Army's hold remains absolute? There is nothing to worry about in this scenario.

Sub continent is not Scandinavia. South Asia is a wild and dirty place. There is age of propaganda not information sharing here. The principles of liberty and fairplay mean you get slaughtered up like a squeeling pig.
India got it right. The directionless and empty vessels the masses are need to be put in place. Media should be a total gov mouthpiece. Direct the masses rather than a collection of gibberish dictate the state policy. Develop the macro before micro.

Have you ever checked out Indian media. Your not going to find more one sided, jingoistic mouthpiece this side of North Korea. There is nothing but anti Pak hate packaged either (i) crude or (ii) posh forms.

I can't help but think that the huge Indian market (readers) is having impact on papers like Dawn. Their articles appear to often go out of their way to appease Indian's or sing the "me you the same song". Typically get a Indian or Pakistani visitor who of course on finding out that across the border people contrary to what they thought have two legs and two eyes as opposed to what they thought - four legs and three eyes. That then is the cue for "us same song".

Dawn is too India orientated and has too many contributors from Karachi making it even more India-centric. This really is not fair to rest of the country.
