We are trying to force the Taliban to allow ordinary Afghans a measure of continued freedom, by withholding the large sums of money that you would have us hand over to the Taliban unconditionally and which thus wuld end up in the hands of corrupt tribal and Taliban leaders, but at the same time supporting the NGOs that bring the actual help to ordinary Afghans.

Well, i investigated further, and i'm happy to learn that the statement in that girl's retweeted video was indeed just a trial baloon by some CCP comittee, not the government's official policy yet.

But you are completely wrong about that Admiral and me. We warn our rivals and enemies not to cross certain lines of behavior, and we do prepare for the worst.

That does not mean we don't care about innocents. We do, and we support the innocent as much as we can.
We are simply forced to use force, sometimes still in ways that regrettably create civilian casualties as well, by enemies that hate us so much that they'll pre-emptively or vengefully use force against us, our civilians or our allies.
