Walton starts exporting TV and washing machine to Iraq

Walton has started exports of television (TV) and washing machine under its own brand logo to the Iraqi market, an another milestone towards achieving its vision ‘Go Global-2030’ that means becoming one of the best global electronics brand by 2030.

The company made the announcement at a programme held at Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC’s Headquarter on Monday last, Walton said in a statement.

During his visit to Walton factory, Iraqi Head of Mission in Dhaka Abdulsalam Saddam Mohaisen inaugurated the exports of Walton brand TV and washing machine to Iraq. Iraqi Deputy Head of Mission in Dhaka Mohanad Al Darraji was also present.

Walton’s International Business Unit (IBU) officials informed that a renowned Iraqi company named ‘Noor Ishtar’ joined hands with Walton as a business partner to sale and market Walton TV and washing machine in the Iraqi market.

The Iraqi delegation was welcomed at Walton factory with flower bouquet by Walton Hi-Tech Industries higher officials, including Deputy Managing Director Md Humayun Kabir and Alamgir Alam Sarker, IBU President Edward Kim, Senior Executive Directors Col. (Retd.) SM Shahadat Alam, Yusuf Ali and Walton TV’s Chief Business Officer Engineer Mostafa Nahid Hossain and IBU’s Vice-President Syed Al Imran.

The delegation enjoyed a corporate video documentary on Walton at the headquarter conference room and then they visited Walton’s well-decorated products display centre as well as some production units, including refrigerator, television and washing machine.

While expressing his reaction at the briefing, Abdulsalam Saddam Mohaisen said, “We are very pleased visiting Walton factory. You (Walton) are encouraging bilateral business through exports to Iraq. In future, I will see more exports from Walton.”

He also noted that they are trying to establish business console between Iraq and Bangladesh aimed to facilitate bilateral trade and investment.

Iraqi Deputy Head of Mission in Dhaka Mohanad Al Darraji said, “Walton is very good and big factory. They installed advance technologies machinery in the manufacturing plants. Walton are exporting electronics products to the European countries. We will support Walton to increase its export volume to Iraq.”

Walton IBU President Edward Kim said, “We are moving ahead with a vision of becoming a global leader in the electronics industry. To reach the vision, Walton emphasized on expanding its brand presence in the global market. As a part of this, today Walton launched first-ever export of TV and washing machine under its brand logo to Iraq. In future, we are planning to set up Walton own manufacturing base in Iraq in collaboration with our Iraqi business partner.

Where are the Iranians (85 Million) and Egyptians (105 Million) as customers?? :-)

On a more serious note, what are the shares of the local made TV and Washing Machines in these Middle Eastern Markets (Iran, Iraq, Egypt?) Or is it completely dominated by Turkish products which may be a bit pricier than say Bangladesh products?

Maybe one of the Turkish brothers can please answer this.

Three things count. Quality, price, and after sale services. I wonder, if Walton has established any of its own service centers or has joined hands with the locals.

Could it be that, not being cars, the local maintenance shops will soon master the Walton products repairing methods. Once people start trusting the goods, the sales volume keep on increasing.

Countries like Iraq or Syria should be kept within our sphere of export. Vietnam is far away from this country.

Fantastic ground breaking company. BD hopefully will be as successful in the white good market as it has in RMG. We have no choice to start going up the value chain. LDC graduation looms large in the horizon with opportunities and risks.

Bangladesh, Feb. 26 -- Walton has become the first Bangladeshi company to be featured in the National Geographic Channel's documentary series "Super Factories."

The episode featuring the Walton factory in Gazipur was aired at 8:30pm (Bangladesh time) Saturday, giving viewers an insight into the company's manufacturing process and success story.

The subscribers of Bangladesh Cable Operator (dish connection) and DTH users were able to watch the 44-minute documentary on National Geographic.

Super Factories unveiled the story of the successful application of modern engineering, functioning and innovation that goes behind the scenes of the making of Walton products.

The programme also showcased Walton's aspirations to contribute to the transformation of Bangladesh from an agricultural country to a manufacturing hub of electronics and technology products, branding "Made in Bangladesh."

National Geographic India said: "We endeavour to bring thought-provoking stories across the globe, through insightful narrative. Our popular Super Factories series was created to give viewers a deeper understanding of high-tech factories and expand their knowledge."

"With this latest edition, we aim to showcase the compelling journey of Walton Group, highlighting their innovative approach to adapt to the evolving technology and the needs of consumers that have helped them to make significant strides within the consumer electronics industry."

Walton's Chief Marketing Officer Mohammad Firoj Alam said: "Walton is representing Bangladesh in the global arena in the fields of engineering and technological advancement. In this documentary, we wanted to share our success story with the audience at home and abroad."

The programme will be rebroadcast at 10.30am (Bangladesh time) on March 6, 13, and 27, April 2 and 3 and 8.30pm (Bangladesh time) on March 12 and 19.

Walton is set to be the first Bangladeshi company to be featured in National Geographic's popular TV show ‘Super Factories,’ which premiered on Saturday.

The National Geographic is a documentary based commercial television channel. Its programmes are broadcast in English with audio feeds dubbed in Bengali, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil and other languages, featuring non-fiction, documentaries that involve nature, science, culture, and history, said a press release.

The subscribers of Bangladesh Cable Operator (Dish Connection) and DTH users can watch the channel.

The 44-minute long documentary will show Walton's journey and operations behind becoming the top brand in Bangladesh, informing viewers of how Walton has established Bangladesh as a hub of technology products through manufacturing, marketing and exporting of electronics and kitchen appliance products including mobile phones, laptops and even elevators.

The ongoing history of Walton's significant contributions to the electronics sectors will be showcased in the event with the documentary also will focus Walton's dream and plan to turn an agricultural country as a center of electronics and technology products, branding the 'Made in Bangladesh' tagline.

'SUPERFACTORIES: Walton' will unveil the story behind the successful application of modern engineering, functioning and innovation that goes behind the making of Walton’s iconic product line.

The documentary brings forth the inspiring journey of Walton as the pioneer in consumer electronic goods that has been making significant contributions to the world of electronic goods in the country.

The viewers will also get an overview about various steps and activities taken by Walton to ensure a conducive environment for future generations.

Walton’s dream journey towards becoming a global brand under the leadership of young generation will also be focused in the programme.

The documentary highlights the brand’s promise to reach every home globally through their progressive technological muscle.
