Financial Express :: Financial Newspaper of Bangladesh
Walton Hi-tech Industries Ltd, the country's one of the leading electrical and electronic product manufacturer, is likely to enter the European Union (EU) market within few months, officials said.
"We have sent our product samples to the Netherlands for certification to the European Union. If we get the certificate, it will help us to expand our international market." Walton international marketing manager Lokman Hossain Akash told the FE.
He said: "We will get the reply by March or April this year. We are hopeful to get the certificate as we are producing high quality products with latest version."
Walton is producing refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner, motor cycle, LED (Light-Emitting Diode LED) and LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) television and mobile phone sets.
"The export target of Walton has been fixed for this year at $20 million. Entering into EU market will be a big opportunity for Walton as its market volume is above US$100 million." Mr Akash said.
He said Walton got good response at the recently concluded Dhaka International Trade Fair. The company got order to export its products to Bahrain at the DITF.
Some new models and designs of motorcycles, refrigerators and air-conditioners have been introduced on the occasion of the DITF.
Earlier, the company set up separate refrigerator plant for export. Its monthly production capacity is 40,000 pieces.
Walton exports products to 16 countries including Myanmar, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, North and South Sudan, Tanzania. The export to India is temporarily halted due to some barrier, Mr Akash added.
