Walmart refuses to place fresh orders with Pakistan

I really like how Pakistani's can give a Postitive Spin to any **** that happens in their country...even if it means conspiracy theory or fail logic. If you keep up like this you will continue to go down the drain.

Keep it up guys

Hey by the way Bangladeshis made billions of Dollars exporting garments to Walmart and now have more Forex reserve than you guys.

Now I am ready to hear how Forex is not important. Shoot :yay:

So have you been to BD, recently (prior to the on going unrest)?! Just curious!!!!

As for this matter, how about your own country, 'the incredible india'?! Supposedly the powerhouse!!!!
Where 'MILLIONS' of folks are still 'DEFECATING' on the streets & where ever they can find a spot to 'SQUAT'!

So please, let's not start feeling all 'High & Mighty', cuz, like the saying goes 'All That Glitters is NOT gold'!

Ask the Chinese manufacturers what they think of Walmart. Your manufacturers lost the order.

Our Manufacturer never had the order they were trying to get new business . But Please do share with us what the Chinese MFG Of clothing think of Wall Mart ?

In china, walmart has 400 supermarkets, while TESCO has 105 supermarkets, carrerour has 219 supermarkets, they really have a big success in China even faced with strong Local enterprises

Their profit margins are very low. Many of them bit more than they could chew,Now they are choking on it.All of these MNCs opened too many stores with out doing much research in to local shopping habits. Now they are struggling.

you cannot beat the convenience of convenience stores. Most of these mom and pop stores probably will survive because of low rents and overhead costs. unfounded fears at best. Walmart will bring its efficiency in supply chain management and will bring down costs. They are leaders in storage technologies which India badly needs.

Wall Mart depends on its supplier to supply goods on time no such thing as storage facilities. If u mean supply chain thats different then storage .As far as efficiency is concerned yes they are known for that but you cannot achieve efficiency with 51% ownership.

Textile goods made in bangladesh is duty free import for wall mart . I seriously doubt the money save with this exemption can be made up by Indian Honchos.

Pakistanis had no chance and they knew it

Walmart is already looking new sourcing options other than BD after Rana Plaza building collapse in Dhaka.European Commissioner for Trade, warned that retailers could face action from the EU if nothing is done to improve the conditions of workers. So why would Wal Mart help to improve the working condition if they could simply shift the shop??Ruling out BD only other option in South Asia is India of course there other options like China and Vietnam.

Walmart cooperate with banks, put out Walmart credit card, if you shopping at walmart with the credit, you can get 80Yuan return at first time, and get 5% back when you shopping every Friday, and double Points redeemable for cash, I applied one after shopping since their suggestion

In India 51% means ownership, if the market very well ,OK, Indian has Controlling stake, they can become their own, but another hand, make walmart has not interesting to work hard make it well

What do you know about retailing.Of course their are storage facilities. They are part of the retail logistics. And 51% ownership is enough, what really matters is the technology and experience.Their Indian partners have plenty of money. What they lack is technology and experience.

BD enjoys pretty much free access to European and north American markets that means any where from 20 to 30% discount on goods imported from bangladesh then to say India china or Vietnam.

In order for them to improve the conditions they can simply make sure MFG in bangladesh do as they(big retailers) dictate the terms.

Question is if Indian or other countries MFG are willing to match the prices offered by Bangladeshi MEG Pakistani MFG simply cant as our energy prices are much higher then India or china.

In terms of price margin there is no competition to BD.BD has the cheapest labour available so they will the contest. But the recent high profile accidents have put question mark on BD's reputation. There has been concern that MNC retailors are exploiting the poor BD workers.Even the words like "slave labor" have been used to describe labor conditions. That's bad reputation and it really bad for business. So they will rather go for new sourcing destination that take the job to improve the working conditions of BD workers. That's what these MNCs are.Anyway,There is no reason why Indian garment exporters could't benefit from this situation.

Very attractive scheme.

Walmart uses cold storage facilities and refrigeration trucks to ship perishables from containers to store shelves. In India half the produce perishes by the time it hits the shelves of local stores. We badly need resources to address this issue because we lack big players who can invest in these technologies and do it as efficiently as Walmart.

51% ownership means you have controlling interest in the company.

like i said this is bad, no corporation should be allowed to do this(not letting farmers save their own seed).
it is something mankind doesnt need. 100 years down the road it will be corporations controlling literally everything to do with food if this is allowed to happen.

That would mean we would keep on using natural seeds. The whole point of modified seeds is that they give better results. Resulting in more profits for farmers. If this corporation don't earn profit, why would they do any R&D? Think of it this way. Apple developed iphone. Some company copies it, and sells it cheaper. Would it be right? All the hard work of R&D was done by that apple. So all the profits from sell should also go to apple. Put yourself in their shoes and think.

What is bad is to not give farmers any choice. It should be choice of the farmer which seed to use. If he uses natural one, all is well. If it uses the one developed by some company, it should follow the guideline of that company.

Wow ...first you try to grab the opportunity....when Walmart refused ...you say....we are saved from US slavery.....Wow

In India though people are already going up in arms against Monsanto establishing presence here. From strikes to candle light vigils (our speciality) ......people are doing it all. Even anonymous India is on the bus.

Monsanto is already in Pakistan. You guys are screwed.

Just look at their contribution to farmer suicides. The goddamn company must be banned from planet earth.
