What's new

Wajahat S Khan's Mahaz program from the frontlines of Shawal Valley.

. . .
I watched it as well. Good program.

However, an episode in which a Pakistani army tank instructor was interviewed by Mr. Wajahat, gave me headache. Seriously, I was not expecting such naivety from a Pakistan army professional.

Its normal for soldiers to be anti-social.
Especially after some time from being out of society.

you put it very mildly
I was gravely disappointed by the lack of comprehension and basic communication skills of that guy.

like any typical civilian Wajahat kept hammering the typical question "what if your plan fails"?
instead of saying "the whole reason for all these exercises is that we dont fail AND .. if we do fail.. someone else among us will take charge and complete it... our training and our commitment ensures that we DONT fail."""

Wajaha... "but what if it all fails and you and your colleagues ALSO fail?"

answer should have been "then you are fucked. pray to God for your and your country's safety.. but until we are alive you dont need to worry.. any more questions?.

Nice video.........................
yea very nice video good presentation and content

just one gripe.. 99% of the video contains camera looking at Wajahat Khan.. he sadly suffers from the same insatiable hunger for being filmed like many other people be it politicians or media persons or showbiz people.. ..check out comparative documentaries by western journalists who would only grace the camera with their face after a while and in a static situation.

..............

Sir, this came to my mind, shared with apologies:

=================================

A guy named Pete gets a job as a switchman with the railroad and undergoes weeks of training.

The supervisor then takes him into the switch booth to test his readiness. The following exchange takes place:

Supervisor: "Imagine you were sitting here alone and you learned there was a train coming from the North on that track, and another coming from the South on the same track. What would you do?"

Pete: "I'd throw this switch right here and put one train on the other track."

Supervisor: And what if that switch didn't work?"

Pete: "I'd go down to the track and throw that big switch lever there, putting one train on the other track."

Supervisor: "And what if that switch lever didn't work?"

Pete: "Then I'd come back here and call the dispatcher to stop both trains."

Supervisor: "And what if the phone didn't work?"

Pete: "Then I'd go to that gas station across the street and use their phone."

Supervisor: "And what if their phone didn't work?"

Pete: "Then I'd go get Uncle Joe."

Supervisor: "Uncle Joe? What would he do?"

Pete: "Nothing, but he ain't never seen a train wreck."

:D

love every bit of it

thanks for sharing. when I shared that program with an ex officer, he sheepishly nodded and said that our real blow hard soorma's sometimes don't make it to public appearances and some young officers are ushered up and thus end up with such situations.

likewise during Sawat operation when media was hostile to Army and had open support for taliban... a hawkish reporter threw a question at a "green" Pakistan army officer...

so you been shooting at that building? dont you see there is Qalma written on it? what were you and your men thinking while shooting and bombing that wall?

the clueless green officer turned red and only nodded and started making excuses... the reporter knowing that he had him by the balls... threw even more pointed questions .

It was painful to watch.. the least I expected by laftan saab was to say.. that did you ever ask the taliban why they blow up mosques full of people praying, full of Quran and kalma? those terrorists didnt mind using the cover of wall and cause fitna... why do you think we should have let them get away with it?

Without causing too much controversy and riling up the mullah (and Modullah) brigade here on PDF, let me just say that we need to know the correct place for religion in our lives so that those who use it to manipulate us do not hold us to ransom for their extremism. The day we learn that will be the day our true freedom begins.

Over and out. :D

And just look at the tank placing and the vast valley down below where the tank can see everything and fire upto 5-6KM range. In the power play prog during live filming you will see the tank engaging a white vehicle at stationary position in which as per the description the militants were loading stuff to move out to Afghanistan border.

no such luck for them....close, but didnt quite make it in one piece

Programe was update on shawal valley ops.... which is now in hands...
Not about any thing new

Shawwal is under the control of ground forces who dominate the heights now....a very welcome development

Wayy too much said. Wajahat in all his candour is getting away with saying too much which will certainly be of good use to those sitting in Afghanistan.

Sir ji, they already know a lot. They have devised many strategies for our moves, but we then countered their moves with new stuff. And this is an ongoing process.

the GoC was also part of it and even showed off and explained the GSR .. I wonder if the program was vetted

if you recall I mentioned my father's deployment in Kahutta back in 80s? he flatly refused to share (in a narrative/ interview form) anything at all confirm or even deny whatever maybe common knowledge. lol that was embarrassing.

yes I wondered if some information was really needed to be shared to that level?
whether or not enemy knows (may know) is besides the point.

then again I though maybe the disclosures about weaponry and equipment was intentional as well to show that the TTP got no chance to hide.
