In the past pakistanis complained of justices giving clean chits to politicians and other influential people. Now they are punishing them and people are still not happy. First decide what you want.

A chief executive cannot get rid of a chief Justice. I. K may rule for 10 years but no one knows who is going it be his successor. Right or wrong but this watch dog is there to ensure that the executive organ of the state don't transgress, which it can not resist the temptation of for too long , and the common pakis don't go the lybian way.
Judiciary need to be independent , not slave of corps , politicians or any powerful department. Its judiciary need to realize where they need to stand and where need to step back. Because its only first and last line of defence to protect the public interest.
Judiciary now elect it own CJs. Before like in US or EU , every SC judge elect by chief executive of country.

Not true. Independent judiciary is a farce. In US there is still a very hard competition what kind of judges are appointed (from left wing democrats to right wing republicans). Their decisions are influenced by their political ideology. Not independent provisions of law.
