I work as a NP in states...messed around and this what I end up doing to make some cash....Im interested in living in India but I want to know what fields should I pursue that have great scope in India, pays well, maybe even like the fact that I am foreign....defense related would be a dream but not sure what my chances are......as well as salary.....??? I would appreciate any feedback...

Good scope so I guess anything technical would be beneficial but how is the work atmosphere. My uncle is a professor In nano, even got a few patents. Studied in Delhi, Al Ameen univ then went to states for further studies and opportunities.

India does not need or want only Soldiers and Generals. Or only Scientists and Engineers. Anybody who can make an honest and productive living can be useful in India. And that is a really huge area of opportunity!
Even a school teacher matters a lot, just as long as he/she is one who is committed to his/her vocation or profession. I've seen many ordinary but unknown people doing that. Some of them had something to do with the way I turned out, and get some credit for the "green-backs" that came in to my accounts.

So give it a good hard thought again and see what comes up.

Technical is always better, but breaking into state owned defense firms is damn hard. many private players are getting into this field lately, getting into them will be comparatively easy.

Even Hyderabad will be good, most of the tech firm HQs are in Hyderabad and the weather too isn't that harsh.
