Virgin Atlantic launches direct flights for Pakistan next week

80% of British Pakistanis are from the mirpur region AJK. The other large community are from Gujarat Punjab. Hardly see any people from sindh.

I am flying with them to Lahore in February, they have always been great when flying to the USA so will see how they perform on this route.
Tickets were cheaper compared to PIA (£410) and luggage allowance was more as well 2-off checked baggage with a max of 23Kg each plus hand luggage. That will keep the Mrs happy.

Hopefully this puts the last nail in PIA's coffin so the government can start a new airline with new rules.

I think that was in the plans but then the accident happened. I would be careful what you wish for. My last flight from Lahore to Heathrow I sat on a seat that was not fixed properly. The cushioning was loose and sliding all the time, the food tray fell out when I opened it for lunch and the infotainment system was not functioning, the bloody screen was cracked.

PIA was nothing like this, it used to be fine and comparable to other International airlines the last 4-5 years it has gone massively downhill.

Don't remember will check my ticket when I get home. I kept it as I was fined for being 1 kg over the allowed weight, my bag tipped 0.566g over the allowed limit. I also had an argument with them because of this.

In my business I am used to using calibrated instruments and one of my pet peeves is haggling for luggage allowance (it seems that's the favourite hobby of Pakistani Aunties). I measured before I left for the airport and my bags were both below 20Kg (40Kg) total allowance.

Then at the airport this dude weighs by bags and they are overweight by about a Kg each. To me that is typical of an instrument that is not calibrated and weighing machines specially do tend to go out of calibration at a faster rate.

Long story short I was fined around Rs2300 - which is not huge but I was arguing on principal - in the end I just gave up.

i have had horrible experience at ticketing counter and at customs at lahore airport. openly asking for bribes, such shameful people in society, followed by threats if i didnt give bribe.. with IK coming to power i expect thinigs to be under a tight watch, then i can be wrong.

I will for sure fly PIA just to support the current government, but sounds like its not a wise idea.
