Virgin Atlantic launches direct flights for Pakistan next week

ISLAMABAD – Virgin Atlantic, a British airline, is going to start its direct flight operation to and from Pakistan next week.
Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority said that the first flight will touch down in Lahore at Allama Iqbal International Airport on December 14 morning, adding that the flight will fly from London on December 13.

The British airline will operate four direct flights a week from London to Lahore and three a week from London to Islamabad.
Reports said that the carrier had sought permission to also operate flights in Pakistan from Manchester but it was not granted.

Meanwhile, Virgin Atlantic Cargo will start its operation from December 7 in Pakistan from London’s Heathrow Airport to Lahore, according to Air Cargo Eye.
The freight division’s Manchester to Islamabad route will get under way on December 10 and its Heathrow to Islamabad frequency begins on December 12.
Under the new cargo services by Virgin Atlantic, more than 66 flights will operated every month.

I think there is no need for emotions here since these are business decisions. Airlines like other businesses base their decisions on cost-benefit analysis and decide on which routes they can fill in the most seats of their planes. For this they usually have mined the statistical data of the travel between the destinations.

It is due to security reasons as to why they have not started routes to Karachi i believe, Karachi is very lucrative given it being the Major hub for almost all local airlines and being the biggest airport in Karachi in terms of Passenger traffic volume.

Allah k bande UK mein mostly Punjabi rehte hain Lahoriye, Multanis, Sialkotis, Pahariye(Punjabis who live north of Jhelum i.e Pindi, ISB, Chakwal, Attock etc etc). Pathan aur MIR PURIYAS(literally filled with Hindko speaking AKmiris and Mir Puriyas).

Baki Canada and especially America Karachiwaley bhaiyon se bhara hua hai. Jis se pucho wo Karachi ka bhaiya hai. Rishta dhoondna mushkil hua wa hai idhar. Ufff.

Jis route ki demand ho gi wohi route lagai gi na airline. Bhai mere!

It's just demographics of Pakistani expats. Insha Allah if Karachiwalas demand also increases then why not.

Khi gets countless routes already from Emirates, Turkish Airlines, Qatar etc. All 3 Pakistani destinations are served, though Khi and Isl are served best.
