What's new

Virat Kohli vs AB de Villiers : Career centuries, runs & other stats.

Indeed that is why I have always regarded Saeed Anwar being the best player from Pakistan for the last 20 or so years, simply due to the fact that his stats do not justify his performances.

There was a time when 250 was considered above par score and any team achieving 250 meant that they are likely to win 95 out of 100 times... Nowadays even 350 is no longer safe, the bats have gone bigger, the pitches have become batsmen friendly and mindset has been to score runs rather than develop innings....

So much has changed so that value 40 odd runs of 1990s weighs more than 80 in 2016...
bad bowlers,heavy bats,fields restrictions, 2 new balls.

Both are excellent players for their respective teams.... Probably the best batsmen in this era....... If you go by the chart there is nothing much in between them barring t20's......

i had seen bowlers in Pakistan who never play professional cricket but they can bowl so fast that you can't even properly see the ball and keepers can't easily hold them. we need structure only.
It is not about speed, if that was the case shoaib akthar would have been the best bowler pakistan ever produced....... But then when you look for the best wasim, waqar and Imran comes to your mind....

Raw pace is always going to pose challenges to even the best. No escaping that.

There is a serious shortage of bad tempered genuine fast bowlers in the world .

Virat Kohli is the only player that has the potential to supersede Tendulkar ( but not in character:-))
But no one can ever beat the Don in batting, i mean it.

Kohli is no doubt one of the best and determined batsman of this era. There is, however, one comparison that I would have liked to see, Kohli's stats in India and out of India as well as stats of AB in and outside of SA.

Nonetheless, nobody can say anything adverse about Kohli other than the fact that he is brutal to his adversaries! He is just that good.

Bad tempered??? I do not know if you could find them like in 90's..... IPL and other leagues gives an opportunity for players to work together and create a good bonding, so in that sense you wont find them... Yes cracks like sreeshant would come up once in a while....

I have no shame to say I was one of those guys who used to shut his tv once tendulkar was out........ and lot of us moved away from cricket after tendulkar....... But Kohli is bringing back those tendulkar fans....... :)

I was fortunate to share a stand (stadium) with tendulkar Yesterday....... People still go crazy of him and start chanting "Sachiiiinnnnnn Sachiiiinnnn"

Dont talk about Sreeshant like that, he is Indias lucky charm. We won both world cups (T20 & 2011 WC) due to Sree:victory1:

Lol.... He is very talented guy..... But an Idiot!!!!!...... Nowadays he is busy building his muscles and he has acted in a malayalam movie...... He is a good dancer by the way (not the dance which he did after hitting 6)

Let these two first face Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne or top West Indian bowlers of that era. If they are able to score this many runs from such top crop bowlers we will talk further...

Standard of cricket nowadays arseshaven is top bowler in the world and kohli best batsmen..quality has gone down pitches are stupid...cricket is not sports anymore its bcci controlled wwe! Stupid pathetic and boring.

Shoiab Akhtar type bowler or Brett Lee would be good contenders.
How good was Tendulkar-Shoaib Akhtar rivalry?

I see the English desperately pushing Root's name a lot. Do you guys think he's special? I have never seen an English batsman I would like to watch batting except David Gower.
Marcus Trescothik, Kevin Pietersen, Michael Vaugn, Ian Bell?
Yes Joe Root is very special. Great Player.

gavaskar, tendulkar, dravid, ganguly were all better than kohli. i can guarantee kohli can't even score 3 hundreds against, pakistani or australian bowling of that time.
and not to forget murali and poles of WI.
Please not Ganguly atleast. Tendulkar is overrated. Virat Kohli will end up as the greatest match winner of all time. His technique, reflex, bat speed, ability to find gaps and confidence to perform in crunch situations are phenomenal. He has just started performing in test matches also and if he continues to play without injuries, he may surpass everyone except Bradman both in test and ODI. He is already arguable the greatest ever in ODI and T20I.
