VIP Viper Sorties

If they were highly classified missions then 1) why publicize it 2) why take PM and CJCSC on such missions? Even if they were on such a mission, so what? PAF is demonstrating what they are capable of.
It's not difficult to assess that the classified nature/part hasn't been exactly disclosed.

From what I remember reading a while back, F-16s fly with Sidewinders on wingtips as a standard procedure as it has something to do with wing flutter that impacts the aircraft's aerodynamics in flights and structural life overall negatively. Hence no I don't believe there was any 'classified' mission performed with the PM in the backseat.

Classified missions aren't just limited to dog fighting. They can include demonstration of a classified ability.

@CriticalThought That is true, but I don't see what utility would that bring vs having the PM sit through a brief of such a mission instead?
The classified part could be movement of the head of state of course, in that the PM was arranging to have a flight in a jet? But what Windjammer posted seems far-fetched to me. But who knows, truth can be stranger then fiction sometimes.

Giving practical demonstration of classified capabilities because given past history (kargil, OBL, Salala) confidence may be at an all time low amongst decision makers.

Somewhat for the air force demonstrating to the politicians of their capabilities and the rest is for selling a news story. Helps at keeping the supposed might status of PAF in the public eye. Just my opinion...could be something else...

Since every key board warrior is now an expert on PAF, while others carry a grudge for either having flunked the ISSB or due to the findings of an inquiry, here's some words of wisdom from someone very much associated with the PAF.

''By the way, the PM flew in a two-ship mission, in which proper interceptions and dummy attacks on ground targets were conducted by two operational pilots in the front seats. Such missions are part of routine training, so this nonsense about PAF being a flying club must be snubbed.

Unfortunately, on the social media, people are free to blurt out anything, with out having full knowledge of the subject.
In our case too, all four F-16s BVR intercepts and ground attack with a Sniper pod.''

There is so much that PAF does for this country which goes unappreciated. Take the example of ACM's statement about taking down American drones. People are bashing the ACM because of one drone strike. Logic tells us that if an American drone is shot in a remote location, the information may be kept classified. And the Americans are belligerent enough that they will obstinately attack again... at a dubious location near the border where there is disagreement on the boundary, from deep inside Afghanistan. For PAF to push them back like this is in itself a great achievement. Hopefully our leaders and our public will place their faith in serving officers rather than stories on the internet.

After watching both videos I must say PAF had hard time to find xxxl size coveralls.

Any ways what Mr. Abbasi can get any idea from flying in aircraft? When he is not professional.

that is average american fighter pilot height.

There is no harm in criticism (as there is a fine line between insults and criticism), that is one of the purposes of this forum or social media in this case. We're all "keyboard" warriors here, you submit a topic, expect all kinds of replies. Passing ISSB means nothing (getting suspended in flying is worse). I at least wish best for PAF, being very fortunate to have grown up in it and would like to see it go beyond its limited slope of progress as I am in the process of joining soon. These are my thoughts sir. Some of us may know more, and some of us may know less.

The topic of a "flying club" is simply put up as the number of dignitaries and retired professionals have gone up significantly. The PM flight was a demonstration in the form of an operational mission.

The bold text, who are you quoting there Windjammer?

In recent months, we witnessed our PM and then CJCSC go up flying in the F-16s.
What initially thought of as just joy rides were in fact highly classified missions.
The little information i received from well placed sources is that as can be seen that each sortie involved at least two aircraft and they were armed. Basically the VIPs were witnessing both interception exercise and techniques as well as ground strike missions. In essence it involved much more than what meets the eye.

Stupid coverup ... What idea will he have from those sorties ? He should better be discussing overall defense strategy not battle tactics

As discussed on this forum as well, people are free to say whatever they have on their minds or can reach to the level per their capacity of mind. These aren't joy rides but meaningful interactions yet unknown to commoners. Sometimes, there are different ways to make a point before someone of such caliber or level that may seem unwanted or useless to others but there are reasons.

Hi,

If I wanted the PM to invest in new aircraft---I would entice him him to take a ride in one of the aircraft---make him feel the aircraft---make him feel the thrill.
