Violence in Karachi

There are all sorts of thugs and gangs operating in Karachi which are linked with political parties. The mainstream poltical parties are not as innocent as they pretend to be. The three parties MQM , ANP and PPP all are involved in violent activities.

MQM and ANP are both parties based on ethnicty both cliam to be 'secular and progressive' yet but both are involved violence in the city.

ANP's Shahi Syed , on the record has passed many inflamatory remarks against urdu-speaking people and so did Mustafa Kamal ( when he was in office ) pass inflamatory remarks against pashtu-speaking people.

ANP is not secular, its more like socialist type of party came into existance by soviet help, and its purpose to destabilize pakistan, then ANP involved nationalism to gain more power..

MQM is also not secular, its motto is not clear, the mohajoirs or urdu speakers are not secular type, but like ANP, MQM has also gained power through one ethnic support, though MQM desires to gain respect in all ethnicity..

ANP has no future, there are not sicialists survivng nowadays, pastuns are more religiously oriented and are patriotic unlike nationalism.

in previous elections, there had been no ANP, but as jamaat boycotted the elections, ANP got a wierd victory..

all parties get ethnic support, there should be one party which would represent whole pakistan and not the provinces..

MQM without altaf would prosper a lot and has bright future, because unlike other parties it has educated middle class people and not jagirdars, but only hurdle in its part is altaf hussian who has monopolised the whole party and the brilliant minds and concepts

examples from MQM is mustafa kemal.. there are no such examples in other wadera parties..

unlike most of them may thing, the nine zero is run by mohajirs only, but truth is, there r pathans, punjabis, balochs equally involved who represent multiculture karachi, but people remind of its dark past when it use mohajor card, but reality is pretty different..

Add al-asif, al-azam, sorabhgoth to that list too. That area is like a mini Kabul and literally a no-go area. The police are afraid to go in the afghan slum that's in the adjoining area too.

what is the population of afghans in karachi? i asked this cuz i am dont know it. on the other hand, hope people dont mix/confuse Pashtoon ethnic group with all afghans. ANP is pakistani party and is one of parties thought to be involved in violence.

Wasn't Pakistan supposed to be a land of peace and prosperity for all muslims including those who left everything to go there at the time of partition???

Looks like something went horribly wrong.

My heart bleeds at the ordeal that my fellow brothers have to go through at the hands of these b@$t@rds day in day out. And whats wrong with all of you people here, fighting for your respective ethnic parties and defending them. Please tell me which and what party is sincerer with their constituencies, let alone their city, their state and or their Pakistan. Why are we forgetting! Dont forget that any Pakistani who is dies at the hands of these p!gs is a death to the whole of Pakistan. Any Musliman that dies is the death of the whole of Ummah. We are one, from Kashmir to Balochistan, why is it that we are divided over these ethnic lines. When our forefathers shed their blood for this land they didnt care about the ethnic group they were fighting for they were fighting for this country. Please guys, why do you think that our country is in such a mess at this point of time, cause of our divisions. We have already lost a part of our country, dont destroy it any more. We cant afford it any more. Please!

I guess looking with in your country first rather then taking a shot at sarcasm to poke some one else would be a better option.

It was not sarcasm bro, not at all. I was only asking a question. Sorry if I offended you, didn't mean to.

Well I didnt want to come harsh at any one, the thing is that yes the situation in Pakistan is bad, yes your grandfather might have had made the right decision, like my grandfather made to move to Pakistan. But you cant refute the fact that where you are well off in india and are happy at your grandfathers decision, people in places like Gujrat or many other like them might disagree with you. Basically my point is that situation is not rosy in Pakistan and at times in india people experience the wrong end of the stick. But most of the **** that is created in Pakistan now is mostly have to do with the political miscalculations.

P.S I have deleted my post, you can edit yours as well.

Khalid, while I agree with you 100%, I read atleast 5 posts daily on defence.pk about how people made the right choice of moving to or asking for pakistan etc etc on all kinds of irrelevant threads. Now you know how I feel then :)

Yes there is violent politics involved, it was there before partition, during and after. Nobody should claim any victory, as the spoils are in a very bad shape.

Afghans are limited to the areas i mentioned (al-asif, sorabhgoth) since there's a huge afghan slum(basically a refugee camp of those Afghanis that didn't return to their country after the war in the 80s) in the adjoining area.

what is their population, and secondly i thought you blamed a fair share of the problem on them.

Ahmed, basically and honestly speaking, most people in Sindh and Punjab are not fond of the Afghan refugees, and we don't really want them in our regions. Maybe in Peshawar and KP they are wanted, because Pashtuns have blood relations with Afghanis, but the same can't be said for Punjabis and Sindhis. I personally would be happier if the Afghan refugees would leave Punjab.....as many Afghans are very ungrateful and hateful towards Punjabis.

The Afghan population is very large that's all i know of (easily in thousands), i mean just look at the google maps screenshot i provided.

The thing is that the general area is a haven for criminals and Taliban members (not limited to the afghan camp). Last time an operation was carried out there, a huge cache of arms was recovered as well as several Taliban members. Criminal elements tend to use that area as a safe haven. Buildings there are all illegally constructed and occupied by powerful tribes from the FATA area.

But it's not all that bad...very cheap food there!:partay:

I agree - Afghans are big problem. They should be thrown out of Pakistan ASAP.Any Pakistani who wants them to live here should be shipped with them back to Afghanistan because honestly unlike other groups who migrated to Pakistan Afghans loyalty still lie with Afghanistan not Pakistan (Afghans= Afghanistan Nationals) otherwise there would not be any problem but as they say old habbits die hard Afghans still want to live like Animals in cities (they want to live like the way they used to live in afghanistan or far off areas of Pakistan ie a Kalashnikov on the back) but there are good afghans too and they are very very hard working people.

thousands is nothing if we look at a large city like karachi with 18m population, the taliban could be the TTP runaway fighters, at the same time i dont deny the existence of good taliban in karachi either. lets dont put the problem of karachi on the afghans.

nothing to do with afghans, FATA guys are pakistanis.

dude you need to clam down and don't be offended..it's a fact.Karachi has largely been target of Afghan Immigration as compared to other areas of Pakistans because the way Afghans immigrate is Afghanistan>Balochistan>Sindh --- Karachi. Balochistan does not have a border with Punjab hence lower numbers here.OTOH KP is full of Afghans and there are many in Islamabad too.Mostly Taxi drivers.Pakistani Pushtuns largely remain in their own dominated province ie KP.
