Looks like Vinfast is going to rebadge the GE3 ev from GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group):

The platform is already a little bit old, you should get their latest Aion series:
Aion LX:

So, it is a straight rebadge, not even a repanelling. Just noticed a white sticker over GAC logo on the second photo.

I wonder, is the new Aion V still BMW based?

I have not heard GAC has any cooperation with BMW, do you have any link to this, bro?
What I know is some GAC models have some connection to Alfa Romeo (GAC's JV partner Fiat), and GAC has a lot of cooperation with another JV partner Honda.

License made on BMW UKL platform from knockdown kit made in China, and Chinese battery packs. So much original engineering :disagree:
Nonsense
Vinfast has factories that build almost everything.
As for batteries, the packs come from LGchem and Kreisel electrics. Also from factories in Vietnam.

Knock down kit made in china? Lol. Vinfast is producing the body in white using the schuler press machine at hai phong, its transmission is produced by zf at hai phong, battery is made by LG at hai phong, engine parts are produced at hai phong, Vinfast also has a couple of plants at hai phong to produce plastics parts of the cars. I know vinfast is not 100% made in vietnam, but definitely not even 1% made in china.

My employer used to do car electronics.

Almost every small FWD SUV in China is either BMW UKL, or VW platform. Great Wall ORA is UKL with Chinese electronics. GAC CPMA platform (GS8) is a licensed Fiat platform, their smaller Gonow SUVs are either UKL or Peugeot platform.

Probably yes. GAC's own brand has yet to become a 1st tier Chinese car brand, they may base on their models on mature platforms from their partners. Great Wall focus most on marketing till recently, not on R&D as much, they may borrow some mature tech as well. Among all Chinese car companies, I think Chery spend the most on R&D, but unfortunately, their design and marketing sucks, which limited the sales...

Yes ok I saw the photo.
Well I don’t know maybe VF licenses chassis from chinese automakers too, similar taking licenses from BMW and GM.

That’s ok in my opinion. We acquire tech and make finished cars. Win win.
