Indian policy, Navy's mistake.....go on, protest, its about whether we should buy it or not. Answer, lets have it.

Yes protest is necessary.its not GoI or IN's money that they keep on spending on some white elephant without any result to show for.This money comes from the pockets of indians. hence accountability is public's right.If protest doesnt move things then armed struggle will.

India is building its own ACC and Private players are coming in especially Pipavav working with DCNS and will target Naval contracts too.

Btw Kolkata high court in its judgment already said today that maoists are neither terrorists nor criminals they are political prisoners ie they are fighting for a cause hence in indirect words they are freedom fighters.

Our engineers have done a lot to keep it in service which was supposed to be decommisioned years ago. It will be part of IN till 2017 /2018.

But most of the time its at docks. And aircrafts for it are only few left (6 Harriers).


It is still valuable for training of IN sailors. The people who are stationed there will be major part of Vikramaditya or IAC-1 I know one who is a navigation officer.

Sure is ... It takes decades to get experience on AC's ... Not toys available everywhere as some here wishfully think

No, Indian engineers have enough know-how. Harrier line is closed for some time. We lost many in crash. The skijump and length is not enough for Mig-29. Anti submarine helicopters do operate. And it can at least do the role of LHD>

Yup, people think ACC operational knowledge is so easy to acquire. Buiding an ACC and operating it is similarly difficult.

Besides that they are available for buying from anywhere easily and thus the Russian deal can be scrapped ...

We once had the option of Queen Elizabeth class carrier but we had IAC-1 in pipeline and Vikramaditya deal was already there. Also fear of west sanctions would have been always there.
