No, We did not see VN as a brother, so did VN. We saw VN as just a normal affiliated country in history, and VN always saw us as invaders. When in old times, we saw Korea as our little brother, Korea was much loyal to China compared to VN in history. Several times in history, kings of Korea had been proved that they were always the last ones to betray Chinese emperors when facing strong enemies, we saw their loyality, so we cared about the destiny of Korean people and fought for them many times. In contrast, VN gave us no loyality but always betray.
Considered the lesson of history, we still see Korea as a potential ally and brother. But we did not see VN as a brother in the past, and I think no Chinese will see VN as a brother in the future. We see VN as just a common country but share similar culture.

As matter of fact yes, if Anatolians believe that they're descendant of Turk then logically and indirectly they're our half brothers and Sisters, we have more Turkish blood pool than all central Asians countries and Turkey combined: when Tang empire defeat Eastern Turk, virtually all Turkish tribes have been absorbed and blended with Han people and become Chinese over time, only a fraction of the remaining Turk go west and started their conquest of central Asia and Anatolia, we would be glad to welcome our distance relative in Turkey to be part of us, surely I have no problem with that.

So much fun. I am enjoying seeing our East Asian brothers are interested in our common history. The more you read history, the more you find controversial points, because each authors could only see from his own point of view, which had limit.

Vietnam has struggled to fight big invaders in modern history. That is one of the main reason why the view of China as another invader has the upper hand. However, I believe if Vietnam can continue to leave in peaceful time for next 50 years, the view of China as a great benefiter to Vietnam will win.

The red river is mighty because it is fed by waters of small rivers and rains in Vietnam. Sometimes when it rains, it can last for days in central or southern Vietnam. We will survive even if you stop the flow of the river in China. Besides we live next to the sea, there is technology to extract trink water.
