With all the effort focused on China's island building, it's easy to overlook Vietnam's own reclamation program. They have been enlarging the reefs and islands they control for years, with quiet approval from the West. There is absolutely no reason to pay attention to Americans' selective concerns.

As of now, almost everyone involved in the SCS dispute is doing the same thing to increase control.
