I think because a Western style of living is becoming more accepted/mainstream in the world women are opening their eyes that they are finally allowed to be treated more equal in this "man's world" than their traditional old "man's world". Don't underestimate their feelings of being looked at as second class citizens on this planet by men.

What men may perceive as irrelevant, unimportant, or even baffling can truly strike a chord with women. A classic example of this is the opening scene from a 1961 movie which brings emotion to many east-asian women but doesn't even register on the radar of men as having any significance at all. (I certainly never found it memorable or noteworthy...in fact the whole movie is incredibly boring/stupid/amoral)

Most Vietnamese guys do work, and in reality most Vietnamese (or any country) women prefer men of their own country. And the minority who prefer foreign spouses actually prefer a partner from Japan/South Korea due to generally higher incomes, higher standards of living, and better dressing sense.
