Pure fantasy!Variable Depth Sonar (VDS) can detect enemy submarines up to hundreds of miles away.
The large portal in the 054A Frigate's rear holds the Variable Depth Sonar, as well as the powered winch used to lower it deep into the Pacific Ocean. With the right seawater density, salinity and temperature, a VDS detect enemy submarines up to hundreds of miles away.

How can a submarine be detected by radar or other means if it hides for example in one of endless islands, rocks and reefs controlled by Vietnamese Navy? Given we will camouflage the subs.
A VN sub will detect a surface warship much quicker than vice versa and will be the first to fire a missile upon.
