The issue is much more complicated than that, we are late comer to the world economy development stage(embargo shifted in late 1995), mb earlier than N,Korea lol. It need much more time for development. Private sector in our country although developed dramastically but not it is not in favour of country leader as they favour state companies (want to imply South Korea model of development)

Is Vietnam on the Verge of Change?
More brand of our country agriculture sector are created recently though, notable Trung Nguyen and Vinamit. Brand names for companies are relatively still new to Vietnam (together with marketing), it will take a bit of times for our country to learn it and develop strategy. Coffee sector profit's predicted in next 5 or 10 years will growth by 3 to 5 times (likely to achieve $25bil-$30bil .You need to be more patient, every country goes through that path. What Vietnam need now is management and communicate (team work) skill, our education program are fail on that two points. See the article:

Well i think he meant 2030 and beyond i guess? From 2020 till 2050, Vietnam will have highest growth rate in the world according to PwC 2015 research. Vietnam has long way to go though, S.Korea growth was largely due to building cheap ship and port facility, huge investment and free loan by Japan and USA together with easy to access to market and build export-base economy(competition that time not as fierce as now). Later it was adopted by China, they even build cheaper ship and also build growth on export based economy.
Vietnam is tried to imply that model but i think it will not work well as there is not much to gain to even build cheaper ship than China, also need to compete to Philippine-not very effective though and the world economy is already saturate compare to last 2-4 decades ago and fierce competition nowadays. Growing demand for good and service are not as high as 2 to 4 decades ago to support it. Govt realize that and they are trying to find solution and develop new path ways after crisis in 2012 and the collapse of Vinashin
