Peru to open its embassy in Vietnam
Updated : 3/14/2013 11:35:12 AM
(VOV) - The Peruvian Government has decided to open its embassy in Vietnam to promote the friendship, cooperation and political dialogue on a bilateral and multilateral basis.
Its decree published on the March 13 gazette said the dispatch of a diplomatic mission to Vietnam demonstrates Lima’s effort to broaden its relations in politics, diplomacy, economics and trade with southeast Asian countries.
The decree described Vietnam as an important gateway for Peru to expand its business operations in the Asia-Pacific region.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son said a high-level delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) is scheduled to visit Lima later in March. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1994, they have raised their two-way trade turnover in five years to US$180 million in 2012.
