Vietnam Rises as Middle Power at Defense Summit: Southeast Asia

The term Han a mix of people that are part of Chinese family through out history. The people of Fujian is part of Han ethnicity and we can tell that from language and genetics. As for Vietnam, many people's male ancestry are from China. So don't be surprise if you have lots of Chinese in you.

?

Its inhabitants of Fujian were from diverse ethnic groups including the Baiyue. The state survived roughly from 334 BC to 110 BC. According to the Shiji, the founders were members of the Yue royal family who fled after that state was defeated by Chu and Qi in 334 BCE.
Minyue was partially conquered by the Han Dynasty by the end of the 2nd century BCE during the Han campaigns against the Minyue.

Minyue is no Hans.

I don't know about the others but my mother a Viet from Quy Nhon of Binh Dinh province, I am a 100% Viet blood, so speaking as a Viet blood I would just like to say as politely as possible to the Indian folks amongst us to GTFOH with your brotherhood talk, I do not see the brown race as brothers of the yellow race, history has dictated that the Vietnamese be blessed by the cultural influences of the Sinic world unlike the other SEA nations of the mainland so your sub continent people are no brothers of mine

Vietnamese were slave of ancient Tai populations, does the truth hurt?

Tai population were too backward to win on Lạc Hầu and Lạc Tướng in ancient time.

You are true yue10, slaves of Hans until now, it's diference, understand ?

The people that live in Fujian would decide what ethnicity they belong, not a Vietcong.

Below is blog from 2010, whereas Vietnam was classified as Middle Power (along with Indonesia, Australia and Canada). Interesting, the blog was written by a Chinese. It tells much how the Chinese want to counter the emerging competition of other medium powers.

Chinese seem to hate competition as they want hegemony instead.

How to Weaken Challenges Posed by Middle Powers

Huanqiu, China; 20 October 2010; By Liu Jianhua

In the past few years, China’s relations with middle powers in the Asia Pacific — including Australia, Canada, Vietnam and Indonesia — have been rather sticky. These countries have challenged China’s national interests in the areas of security, economics and human rights. As a result, they have made China’s peaceful development more complicated, disturbing the regional security and annoying China’s diplomats. These annoyances are different from the ones caused by great powers and problematic small countries.

Some countries annoy China in the realm of security. Vietnam decided to deal with China in terms of security by holding unprecedented joint military exercises with America. Both Indonesia and Vietnam are actively buying modern weapons to deter China. Furthermore, other countries annoy China in the area of human rights.

Every year at the United Nations’ Human Rights Conference, Canada and Australia follow America and Europe’s example in blaming China for not protecting human rights. It’s even more obvious in the economic area. Last year, Australia prevented Aluminum Corp of China from buying more shares in Rio Tinto, causing China’s efforts to establish a supply of iron ore to fail. This year, Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty announced that the yuan’s currency depreciation had caused “global trade imbalances.”

As a whole, the challenges made by these middle powers have not affected China as much as America, Europe, Russia, Japan, India or international groups. However, these challenges are not easily ignored, either. These countries might be ones who monopolize important resources, like Australia. They might be hosts of important international summits, like Canada, or strategically important countries, like Indonesia. In particular, most of the countries are strategic allies with America who challenge China on territorial and resource issues.

Objectively speaking, they have helped America to form an encircling chain around China. What’s more, they join with other great powers besides America to contend against China. For example, India and Vietnam have recently started cooperating militarily, and relations between South Korea and India are warming.

In conclusion, behind nearly every challenge to China made by an Asian Pacific middle power, there is evidence of a great power coaxing or even forcing the middle power to act. America, Japan and India are all purposefully using these middle powers to boycott China. In response to this, China must quickly develop effective military deterrents to keep these great powers, especially America, from interfering in controversies in China's surrounding regions. As China’s nonintervention ability increases, the middle powers in China’s periphery will increasingly come into conflict with China. At this point, one cannot help but doubt the reliability of America’s support to suppress the impulse of challenging China.

On the other hand, China can use diplomacy with the great powers, in particular a new strategic compromise with America, to reduce the strength of the weaker middle power countries’ bargaining chips. Actually, America is both a crucial country blocking China’s rise to power as well as the key to dealing with relations with regional middle powers. Historically, there are several examples where America and China have made strategic compromises, which in turn improved China’s relationships with regional middle powers.

For example, in the 1970s, America implemented the “containment policy” against Vietnam. This caused Japan, who was then a middle power, to reconsider its attitude towards China. Specifically, Touei Fumiya, then aide to Japan’s Prime Minister, had to moderate his negative attitude against China. Even though there does not seem to be an opportunity for a strategic compromise at present, in the future China’s comprehensive strength will increase, or perhaps a global or regional catastrophe or crisis will happen that will encourage China and America to cooperate. At that time, it is likely that a Sino-American strategic compromise could be reached.

Champa asked China to attack Dai Viet during Song and Ming dynasties because Dai Viet was attacking them, then the Muslim and Hindu Cham, Christian Montagnards and Buddhist Khmer in FULRO asked China for support again against Vietnam, China never told them to fight Vietnam. After China couldn't supply FULRO in the 1980s they continued fighting Vietnam until 1992.

China is not funding International Office of Champa or any of the Khmer Krom and Montagnard organizations, they are the remnants of FULRO and they hate Vietnam all by themselves. Alot of Cham Americans and Montagnard Americans are former FULRO sympathizers so they hate Vietnam.

We don't have blood ties with Cham like we do with the Moros in the Philippines but when their interests are the same as our interests we help them. Vietnam sided with the Soviet Union, FULRO was fighting against your pro Soviet regime, China supported many anti-Soviet guerilla movements in Asia and Africa like UNITA in Angola and the Afghan Mujahideen and FULRO against you. The Muslim Utsuls are descendants of Cham who fled to China during Dai Viet's invasions of Champa in the Song and Ming dynasties.
ha ha ha...you supported terrorist organisation. Don´t complain when they turn and attack you in your homeland.
what a pathetic country!

China's Education Ministry says that about 400 million people - or 30% of the population - cannot speak the country's national language.

Of the 70% of the population who can speak Mandarin, many do not do it well enough, a ministry spokeswoman told Xinhua news agency on Thursday.

Han (?) people can not speak language of Han man.:enjoy:

Beijing says 400 million Chinese cannot speak Mandarin

.
Wrong, by the time of the 11th century, Han people from northern China already were the majority in Fujian. The Min Kingdom before the Song dynasty was founded by Wang Shenzhi who came from Henan in northern China. The Tran Emperors came to Vietnam during the Song dynasty when millions of northern Han already lived in southern China.
anything in history books said: Min people is Han ??

Middle Power?

Han has a vast majority of people and groups, and in this way we have different dialects. Mandarin is only one of the dialects chosen to be the represent of Chinese language. I am really proud of we have so many dialects. This websites collect every dialects in China, we are preserving this cultural heritage. You can listen to all of them online. I cannot see any conflict or contradiction when using both dialects and Mandarin. On the contrary, only educated people realize the important of dialects.

http://phonemica.net/?name=&sub=&lang=en

Phonemica is a crowd-sourced project to record spoken stories in every one of the thousands of varieties of Chinese. We believe that each language and dialect is a priceless cultural treasure embedding history, social customs -- the knowledge of a people. The Chinese language today contains thousands of language varieties, with differences as wide as Mandarin and Cantonese, as nuanced as the different words of neighboring villages.

But with more and more people speaking Standard Mandarin with family members, coworkers, friends and schoolmates, many of these languages will disappear.

We can’t stop this change, but we want to preserve the cultural heritage. And we need your help. We are collecting stories from grandparents, aunts, neighbours, parents, teachers, friends, and you. They will be transcribed and shared on our site for others to hear.

The recordings will provide a way for future generations to hear the stories of those parents, teachers and friends, told using the language they shared in common. At the same time the recordings will help linguists study the history and development of the Chinese language, allowing us to better understand the rich history of China, with its many periods of mass migration and the spread of cultural developments.

We all have a story to share. Help us share yours.

Our work

We begin by finding storytellers. We interview them – sometimes in the dialect of their home village, sometimes in a variety of standard Mandarin – then put the recording online, transcribe it into Chinese characters, into a Romanized (Latin alphabet) version, and into the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). Also, we translate each story into English.

All this work is done by Phonemica volunteers, both online and off. If you’re interested, please get involved!

Chinese dialects distribution map. Open the link, you can listen to dialect record from different people from everywhere in China.

Our Red Dao is Chinese-VNese, u can come and intervew them too if u like :pop:

Origin of the Red Dao
The Red Dao people originated from China and migrated to Vietnam starting around the 12th or 13th century and continuing until the early 20th century. The majority migrated into Vietnam during the Minh dynasty, due to drought, failed crops and the pressures of Feudalism in China.

The Dao consider themselves to be the descendants of Ban Vuong or Ban Ho, a legendary character of the Dao people.

Overtime, the Dao people in China were divided into small groups and they migrated to different places, with some of them coming to Vietnam. During the migration, the different groups incorporated some cultural practices of other nations, creating new, diverse Dao cultures. However, the different groups still maintain a common Dao identity, as they have the same origins and continue to share a common language.

Red Dao people mainly live in Cao Bang, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang and Lao Cai. Nowadays, Ta Phin village has more than 700 Red Dao people.

you are not Kinh Vietnamese. Why jumped you in to kiss @ of such Nanyue, Minyue kids ?

was An Duong Vuong a Thai or Tay ? It's proposed by some historians only with condition that Au-Lac kingdom was covered all territory today Yunnan and Guangxi. There was no exact evidences to to proof that An Duong Vuong was Tai people when population of Jaozhi-Kinh people in this time was nearly 1 mill people (1,2 million when Hans conquered Nan Yue) and Tay/Thai population were much more less than Kinh people in the ancient time...
An Duong Vuong came from Nghe Tinh Province. Here is Temple of An Duong Vuong in Nghe Tinh Province in North Vietnam. Where he was suicided to jumping into sea, after suddenly attack of Zhao Da. After failure, he ran back to his homeland.

Zhao Da betrayed the peace agreement of both sides.

ok, this is the last time that I will say I am 100% Vietnamese blood born overseas, if you don't want to believe me that is up to you, my rough plan is to go live in Vietnam somewhere in the rural/semi urbanised area in the future so if I am not Vietnamese why would I do this? I did not kiss the azz of any people, only here to stop your Viets of continually lying and spreading those lies to innocent people who may read your posts and take it as fact, that's all

An Duong Vuong is either the prince from Shu state according to the historical records or a Tay ethnic from around Cao Bang region which is the legend of the Tay ethnic people,

Tai population were too backward to win on Lạc Hầu and Lạc Tướng in ancient time.
You are true yue10, slaves of Hans until now, it's diference, understand ?
if Tai is too weak who is An Duong Vuong?

you are also the slave of Hans since your whole identity and culture is mimicked from the Chinese, tell what about the Vietnamese is original to your population
