Vietnam patrol ship provoke Indonesia Patrol Corvette in Indonesia EEZ

I have been a member since 2012 and went through many discussions here. I can be reasonable, but unfortunately not to some members.

Anyway, the biggest hindrance to Indonesian economic growth is logistics because Indonesia is as large as Europe and separated by waters. So the focus is obviously infrastructure. Previous governments were not able to scale up the infrastructure beyond the main island of Java because Indonesia started everything basically from zero after its independence war and communist purge in 1965. But now, the government's pocket are quite adequate to launch aggresive projects involving thousands of km roads and tollways, airports and ports.

The government plans to spend around 350bn to 400bn on various infra projects such as roads, railways, ports. https://www.indonesia-investments.com/business/risks/infrastructure/item381

Yes, this is very good news.

BD is spending a lot of money on infrastructure right now(17 US billion this year) and can do this as external debt is very low - only a little above 10% of GDP with most being long term and at low interest rates.
It is also attracting more FDI by building 100 SEZs by 2030.

. .
their multi-ethnic nature means they can never focus
to become a 1st world nation.
I am not an economist expert so I don't know if a country that have multi-ethnic will become 3rd world country forever. But what I know is I love Indonesia with its diversity, I enjoy watching kecak dance (from Bali), Ratoh jaroe (from Aceh), tari piring (from minang) from Youtube :(, the other dance is just so so for me, maybe other indonesian member can recommend me good traditional dance?
And we have many kind of traditional food too, many kind of traditional cloth like batik etc.
Wether or not being multi-ethnic hinder country development, one thing for sure we are rich in culture, and we can utilize this card to get additional $ to our income.
Ratoh jaroe dance @ Asian Games opening (1500 dancer).
Complete version.

Ok,

You have 1/3rd the per capita of Malaysia but growing at the same rate.
At this level of development you should be growing 7-8% a year and not 5%.

Please show me ONE example of a multi-ethnic state that has successfully gone from 3rd world to 1st world since WW2. All have been dominated by a single ethnicity like Korea, Taiwan, Singapore etc.

Sorry if you do not like what I say but the facts are clear to see and I have nothing against Indonesia, but think that Vietnam has more potential since it is dominated by a single ethnicity.
im sorry i dont think you know but Singapore is a multi ethnic country very much so

. . . .
Indonesia will become like Brazil and be forever doomed in the "middle-income trap"
Brazil has aviation companies like Embraer but their multi-ethnic nature means they can never focus
to become a 1st world nation.
Gdp can be misleading. Indonesia has Jakarta and Bali. Thailand has Bangkok and Phuket. I have been both to Jakarta and Bangkok. Ok, thing is, I am not sure which city is worse? Jakarta or Bangkok? Those cities are not built for humans they are built for cars!!!
Kuala Lumpur is a bit better. But if you compare any random city in Germany, then all Jakarta, Bangkok and KL are like third world countries. Primitive. Wait until Saigon and Hanoi complete public infrastructure, you will enjoy first world in Vietnam

Can you tell me if these cities have a strategic plan on how to develop their infrastructure?

Dhaka has RSTP 2035 that will include 5 Metro lines, 2 Bus Rapid Transport Routes, 3 Ring Roads, 8 Radial Routes and 6 Elevated Expressways. The plan has been budgeted at 40 billion US dollars.

Currently, the number 1 superpower and world's biggest economy is a multi ethnic country. So I don't see why being a multi ethnic country is a minus factor for advancement.

Indonesia maybe a multi ethnic country (and religion) but deep down we see ourselves as a single nation. Our history has shaped us into what we are. Our diversity is our strength.

Aha interesting you searched what I said years ago? Ok I stay on my word. 4 years. if comparing to 3 years ago, the number is decreased by 80 percent I guess. So next year, it should decrease to a very low level. Most likely not zero but very low figure. Vietnam manufacturing offers more jobs with better wages.

Another fantasy answer. So are you saying that Viet poachers are now moving to manufacturing jobs?... Sorry but I find it hard to believe people who spent their life as sea poachers can move to another job - let alone in manufacturing which demand specific skill - so easily in such a short span of time.

And what manufacturing job exactly these former poacher do?.. Producing Vinfast, B-phone?... If that is true then I feel sorry for the would be buyers of Vietnam manufacturing product.

No. The only reason the number is decreasing is because of Viet poachers are running out of boat after we keep blowing them up. Their greed however can never be quenched. As we can see Viet poachers are also regularly trespassing on Malaysia and Philippine waters.

The Hanoi and Saigon metro system have had delays on the Chinese and Japanese built lines due to a lot of corruption from local contractors and just generally poor planning. Heck, it's now 3 years behind schedule. Even Jakarta which started construction our first MRT one and half year later already started operational now.

Yes public transport is the way to go. Private cars should be taxed high when driving to the inner city. Hanoi plans 8 metro lines with the total cost of $40 billion, so similar to Dhaka.
Saigon plans 8 metro lines, similar cost.
All have delays, cost overruns, technical difficulties etc.
Worst, all are too expensive!
Actually we can’t afford it.
I have no idea how we get the money? $80 billion for Saigon and Hanoi.

Bikes will be banned in major cities. Becoming first world can’t happen overnight.

BD taxes car imports very highly as it does not want mass car ownership.
BD government wants a fast rail link between capita Dhaka and port city Chittagong with journey time 1.5-2 hours to be completed by 2022, at cost of 6 billion US dollars.
Metro rail will also be built in Chittagong.
If you want to travel in BD, it will be mainly rail, bus coach and boat. Cars are discouraged.
