Vietnam patrol ship provoke Indonesia Patrol Corvette in Indonesia EEZ

BD surpassing ID isn’t difficult. Have you seen their top export products?
Palm oil and charcoal!
That is not sustainable. What happens when the last tree is burned?
Or the West stops import of palm oil?

Hmm... let me open my checklist....

Vietnam fact checks:

History as beggars: check
History as incompetent people: check
GDP among the lowest in ASEAN: check
GDP per capita also among the lowest in ASEAN: check
High level of fantasy (everything is based on "when", "if", "once"): check
Known as home to illegal fishers: check
Known to selling own daughters to some old white men or chinese: check
Currency literally means penis in english: check

Most importantly:

Vietnam as a source of laughter instead of desperation: also check

Indonesia will become like Brazil and be forever doomed in the "middle-income trap"
Brazil has aviation companies like Embraer but their multi-ethnic nature means they can never focus
to become a 1st world nation.
As i predicted, UKBengali and Viet tried to make a loop here, where they complement each other (nationality!) to support Viet's early cornered position in the argument, to give an impression that Vietnam have an ally, while it's not, it's just UKBengali making love with Viet here.

Mmm... what would be the theory behind that argument?

Today ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Susi Pudjiastuti witnessed the sinking of 51 illegal fishing boats mainly from Vietnam..:yahoo:

Oh no... are they going to send us another piece of paper begging us to stop?

Ok,

You have 1/3rd the per capita of Malaysia but growing at the same rate.
At this level of development you should be growing 7-8% a year and not 5%.

Please show me ONE example of a multi-ethnic state that has successfully gone from 3rd world to 1st world since WW2. All have been dominated by a single ethnicity like Korea, Taiwan, Singapore etc.

Sorry if you do not like what I say but the facts are clear to see and I have nothing against Indonesia, but think that Vietnam has more potential since it is dominated by a single ethnicity.

Cool:tup:

Define multi-ethnic. Indonesia is a multi ethnic people of course, but the ones that have Malay roots make up almost ca. 90% of total population. There are sub ethnic groups such as Javans, Sumatrans, etc but ethnic was never our biggest hindrances to growth.

Meanwhile, if you want to measure how effective decisions are made and how efficients the government is, you have the so called competitiveness index. Indonesia stands at 45, BD stands at 103 and VN stands at 77.

If single ethnic countries automatically mean that they will become 1st world countries, then why VN and BD perform worse than Indonesia or other multi ethnic countries? So you see, there are many other factors that could explain economic growth and government efficiency rather than ethnic diversity.

I could sense UKBengali slowly retreating from this thread, and would leave the Viet bitch behind alone, and as we speak Viet is also tried to run away it seems, good, now she(?) won't get exposed to the fire of logical argument against her(?) pure ignorance anymore.

BD became independent in 1971, with the main reason that it's resources were being used to fund Pakistan during 1947-1971.
Vietnam only came out of war in 1975 after fighting both France and USA for decades.

I wish Indonesia well but the fact is that your growth rate has dropped to 5% when you are still at this relatively low level. BD grows at 8% now and still rising while Vietnam is at 7%.

Yeah you see? You just confirmed my argument, I asked if you say that ethnic is the reason why a country can take the right decisions, then why BD and VN perform worse? Now you have the answers and those answers are not ethnic, but rather historical.

You seem like a reasonable person and so do not want to argue with you.
Hope Indonesia can grow faster as 5% a year is not enough at this stage. Can you tell me about any concrete plans that your government has to increase the growth rate? BD wants to increase and sustain to 9% growth till 2041.

Now, you have delivered your point here, Mr.UKBengali, and as you can see here, we can't accommodate more pro-@Viet members here, and you have politely said your argument and tried to be more reasonable, so we gladly take your opinion.

The entire point of you being here is already accomplished, you may leave this thread. As to not spark any further unnecessary arguments, or misunderstanding beyond the current issue of Indonesia-Vietnam dispute, we don't want any people of another nationalities to be dragged down to this argument, so please, feel free to leave this thread . Thank You.

I have been a member since 2012 and went through many discussions here. I can be reasonable, but unfortunately not to some members.

Anyway, the biggest hindrance to Indonesian economic growth is logistics because Indonesia is as large as Europe and separated by waters. So the focus is obviously infrastructure. Previous governments were not able to scale up the infrastructure beyond the main island of Java because Indonesia started everything basically from zero after its independence war and communist purge in 1965. But now, the government's pocket are quite adequate to launch aggresive projects involving thousands of km roads and tollways, airports and ports.

The government plans to spend around 350bn to 400bn on various infra projects such as roads, railways, ports. https://www.indonesia-investments.com/business/risks/infrastructure/item381
