that 2 weeks short battle can be hardly called a war. you won the war?you've got to be kidding,we killed more of your troops, captured more of your POWs,we destroyed and totally laid waste to your 6 northern provinces,we took everything worth money back to China making that expedition a very rewarding trip. were you even able to touch a mere grass on our side of the border?
You are just a fool! The world knows better.
Remember, in 1979 when China invaded Vietnam, the Chinese sent initially 250.000 men, and increased the number to 400.000. The Vietnamese initially sent 30.000 local militia and border guards to encounter the invasion. That number increased later to 100.000 men and women in total. The relation was 1:4. The task of local militia and border guards was to slow down the Chinese advance.
Again, at the beginnings of the Chinese offensive, 250.000 PLA troops ran against 30.000 Vietnamese men and women from local militia and border guards!
Later 400.000 Chinese ran against 100.000 defending Vietnamese!
The Vietnamese main battle force from the North region was held back and stationed around Hanoi, as the VN Central Command expected a fight before its capital. The other 2 VN army groups were still engaged in Cambodia and Laos. They were ordered remaining in their actual positions to secure the West border.
The poor performance of the Chinese PLA surprised not only the Vietnamese but also shocked the Chinese High Command.
The Chinese abandoned the plan to increase the troop to 600.000 and withdrew the rest of invasion force after suffering very high casualties. Defeated from Vietnam, the Chinese destroyed everything they found on the way back to China.
LOL... the Chinese leaders said, the PLA would capture Hanoi within a week.
Don´t forget we captured 10.000 Chinese "advisers" in Cambodia, and when we conducted cross border raids within China teritory and we were able to destroy many supporting gun positions.
Last but not least I never heard that China has ever opologized and paid compensation for this crime against Vietnam.
