Exactly what can India sell to Vietnam?
Berthing in Vietnam ports is what is called in military terminology - threat in being.
Let's see:
- Dhruv ALH
- Dhruv gunship
- Tejas Mk2 and onward (Vietnamese have good heavy fighters but their light fleet is old).
- Arjun Mk2 and onwards (Arjun is among the best on the planet and with more modifications, it will be deadly)
- Stealth warships, frigates and corvettes.
- Ammunition for artillery
- BrahMos
- Nirbhay
- Astra
- Quasi-ballistic missiles armed on Vietnamese ships like Shaurya.
- Pontoon-based submersible missiles like the K family of missiles.
- Military radars like Rajendra radar.
- Airawat AWACS.
- IJT-36 Sitara jet trainer
- MRTA transport aircraft in near future.
That's a lot of things in the near future from 2012 onwards mate. And many of the things we can sell even now. Indian weapons stand at a unique position since most of the technology used is a mix of western and eastern styles of development thus offering good merits of both sides.
