Vietnam: East or Southeast Asian?

For view of Japanese, Chinese is like dog, not in the same raking with Japanese.

"No Dogs Or Chinese Allowed" at the entrance of a park in foreign-leased-territory in Shanghai. That issue has been beaten to death without a definitive answer as to whether such a sign really existed. Hearsay doesn't count and unauthenticated photographs don't count. What is required is a dated photograph of such a sign published in the 1910's/1920's, and that has not yet emerged. "

I have several Japanese friends, what you said is not true. please don't lose it, it's a just harmless cultural discussion.

This word was probably created by them. cause this word is more quoted by Japanese and Koreans than by the Chinese.

Interesting. THe word "asia" itself kinda sounds racist to me because it seems to denote lands of non-whites. Otherwise whats the logic between where Europe ends and asia begins.

Having said that - that may be of china's advantage. A country of china size is better off identifying itself as asian thereby generating a sense of belonging in peoples ranging from turkey to japan. Sinosphere sounds very ethnic and limiting.

It's a defining trait for East Asian countries to hate each other.

So Vietnam doesn't qualify as an East Asian country. They are generally only anti-China, but pro-Japan and pro-Korea.
Ok but that doesn’t explain why majority of Viet people like Taiwan and Singapore?

Ain't sure about "North viets" however im pretty sure "South-viets" neither belong to East or Eastasian
Through my 1st hand yrs of obsevation from the "South-viets" workers of my uncle's so-called "Best Vietnamese restaurant in Hongkong" was that they obviously belong to "America" instead lol
PS : Perhaps the reason for my uncle's decades dream of being the only "Michelin Vietnamese Restaurant" in HK never came true was pretty simple=" you just can't depend on these self-proclaimed Americans":pop:

The places in the South are newly added regions, less than 200 years ago. The only surprise the those Southern Khmer are so completely Vietnamized today, everyone identify themselves as Vietnamese. But now big problem is there is a latent division sentiment at the South.

North and South dont mix. Seldom you see Saigon people in Hanoi and vice versa.

That is the reason I strongly suggest getting China in and build HSR. It will reduce Hanoi Saigon to 4 hour trip, and get people close together.

Vietnam has a complete traditional Chinese culture, Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, and Buddhism in Vietnam is Chinese Buddhism. It is a pity that it abandoned Chinese language a few decades ago. Vietnam is culturally closer to China than Japan and South Korea.

China’s back. The world can throw a hissy fit but it has to just deal with it.
