SHORADS and V-SHORADS by nature are supposed to be quick reaction SAMS. Their short range means they HAVE to be fast in locating and destroying enemy aircraft and missiles. But DRDO lives in a reality of their own so never mind.

In akash, Investment is already done. Astra SAM is derivative of A to A so we are not developing a new missile but just confugeraing it. By the time Astra becomes usable as SAM, Akash's range will be increased to 40 KM +.
