A new photo taken from a mobile phone of a passenger on a light rail passing by is published on a chinese forum today.

No official news from china navy (unsurprisingly), last year end of April the carrier was moved into a dry dock to fit on a new engine system. Looks like now it is out after nearly 11 months. Probably still plenty of work to do but at least this is the first time the public has seen the progress.

As far as the rest of the world is concerned it may well be a floating casino :-) at least we don't mean anyone any harm.

You are kidding me, is that for real? The front tip of the jet seems a bit longer than this model here, I kinda really wished it could look like this... Heard there are two models of 5th gen jets in development, the CF is responsible for the heavy weight j-xx, SF is rumored to be working on a lighter weight model too possibly capable of vertical take offs, if that's true not sure when we can see it, it'll be handy for the aircraft carrier.

if it's not real,PLA can only play blackjack on varyag.....varyag can't wait for j-XX

Good News !!! China really does need to work ever harder to improve its Blue Water Naval Capabilities and Air Power along with the Land Forces. US naval presence in ever nook and corner of the world is really freaking every one.

btw, any inside news or updates regarding a Chinese Aircraft Carrier. I mean other than this Varyag. Any timeline when we might see it afloat.

The first domestic one is said to be ready in 2012, there's no big rush to develop the blue water navy and increase air force powers, the united states is far and away ahead of everyone, our aim is national defense and protect the country's key interests. Economy, infrastructure and R&D etc etc is still the main focus. Sounds boring but true:-)

 sorry for saying this but it does sound a bit boring and disappointing........ you see the oppressed world (by US and Europe) is looking towards China (and some extent towards Russia) for a rescue.

Anyway, i believe Pakistan and other "allies" of the ABC (Asian Brotherhood of China :china::pakistan:) should also come forward in developing their economies and military powers, so that China has some powerful and resourceful friends to work along. :chilli:
