Naaah Barakahu I haven't heard anything. Anyways this is very common now but not open, so if people feel secure by banning it then let it be.
Nah its just molvi types with special khuljli of 97% Muslim mulk mein Islam khatrey mein hay

. .
Its common people with young daughters. They have genuine concerns.
How is something someone else does affect you if you dont want to do it yourself?
This ban did nothing except gag media coverage and arrest of balloons people still did what they wanted to the only new thing is police increased its bitchiness and harassed married couples

I was in f-10 flower market last night i saw no change from last year awein number tangney key liye kiya bus

.
its a commercial holiday more than anything - cos ppl go out and about buying stuff for their beloved - its not like people sit on jaenamaz and pray for Saint Valentines. This ban only means businesses shouldn't publisize the holiday, people are still gonna go out and treat their other half specially (as long as paise in jaib) - Bless my people who have to hear such foolish decisions being made for them in high courts.

It does because we are a collective society. Not an individualistic society. Unfortunately for you Pakistani White wannabe Liberals.

. .
Pakistani liberals @Zibago , due to their inferiority complex tend to take Western holidays too seriously. They celebrate the trash of the West like it's straight from God himself.

They celebrate Valentine's day like it's a wedding. Meanwhile the countries where Valentine's originates from no one really takes it seriously. At most some people might send a card with flowers or a box of cheap chocolate.

.
But that is the whole point. There should be freedom to celebrate Valentine's Day any way one wishes to - or not at all. Why should a blanket ban take away the choice of the people? Why this desire to determine what others can or cannot do?

It's not our culture. We are not Europe or America. We are a collective society. This whole "everyone is free to do as they will" is Western liberal individualistic concept (which even they are shedding now).

I find it ironical that the very society that inflicts violence on women and minorities is the same society that wants to celebrate a holiday about "love". That's the joke.

Who are these newbies with General Zia's Picture, quite annoying

:laughcry: Shouldn't all of you need to be booking ticket to Wahabi countries since the operations are about to start against Extremist in Pakistan

Let me know if your family member can drive a car if they happen to be female or are able to do many basic things by themselves in their "complete society" as your statement goes

Pehle Malala se ja ker pooche lo , tujhe koon si liberal taliban ne goli mari thi

Wo to yehi bole hi , "jis ne goli mari bohat bara zalim tha, Liberal nahi tha"

That's the dumbest comment I've read...and we have indians commenting here.

"flying" isn't "western tradition"...

That's like saying "Oh, interest in space exploration is Western tradition" or "Algebra is Arab tradition" LOL!!! Human flight was a point of interest for humanity for centuries---Chinese, Arabs, Muslims, and Europeans talked about it, tried, and looked into space with awe and sought to find ways for human flight.

Wright brothers just did it the first time.

When somebody say "it's not our tradition"...they mean things that are social traditions of another culture deem inferior by one culture, and hence not reciprocated.

Majority of western culture is fundamentally inferior to Muslim social culture, and hence we don't want out-of-wedlocks, premarital sex, whoring by our young girls as neccessary hobby of teenage/young girls, rampant alcoholism in our boys, and fall of marriage and rise of divorce.

So yes, Valentines day is something we don't comfortable with and 99% of our society doesn't feel any affiliation for it. So banning it is a good sign :)

You can continue to celebrate it though. Nobody cares!
Exactly. Only inferior minded Pakistani liberals who are insecure about their own culture would be desperate to adopt another people's trash.

Next thing you know these people will ask "well, what's wrong with gay pride parades? It's just between gay people, maybe you should just look the other way".

To hell with that.

But every society functions as a collective. There is no free-for-all in the West as you think. There is rule of law which everybody follows, and within that framework is the freedom to behave as one wishes to, as long as it does not affect others.

This claim of culture is patently absurd. It is the collective choice and patterns of behavior of members of society that make up its culture. Imposing one rigid thought process born from a religious basis is a recipe for failure. No one group has the right to determine cultural practices for everyone else, except for themselves alone.

One should be responsible for their own behavior, and allow others to choose their own behaviors without imposition, without affecting anyone else. What does it matter to anyone if anyone else buys flowers or balloons?

LAHORE – In a bid to prevent ‘sin’ ahead of Valentine’s Day, police in Lahore’s Shahdara area on Friday arrested a married couple on the charges of adultery.

The husband and wife, Nasir Hussain and Saima Nasir, were arrested after the police raided their home and were produced before the Judicial Magistrate after facing charges of adultery.

However, the accused’s lawyer produced the ID cards of the married couple as an evidence and stated that the police conducted the raid to avenge the personal enmity.

The lawyer further alleged that the police tortured the naked pair throughout the night.

The judicial magistrate Imtiaz Ahmed Bajwa quashed the case against the married couple and grilled the DIG operations over the extremely impetuous and unnecessary actions against the innocent couple. The magistrate ordered the DIG operations to reconsider and monitor the performance of his subordinate officers.

The magistrate went on to say that the police had violated personal privacy of the citizens and trespassed on their home without any warrant. He said it was unethical that the police squad didn’t take any female police officer with them.

The vigilant Punjab police, ahead of Valentine’s Day, has started taking several measures to prevent the “immoral activities” and violation of ‘Islamic laws’ in the city.

Last year, the government had officially banned the celebration of Valentine’s Day. The debate even made it to the parliament followed by stringent actions including the deployment of more police officials on roads and banning of public parties.

Ghurbat to herr Pakistani ke khoon me shamil hai. Ais ker ke te aiday "iman dar" hukmaran hakumat ker de painay.

Only Islam is the cure.
