Whatever! Lets stop being so much conservative.

We have already messed up our soft image by banning festivals like Basant and now V days...
No nation worthy of self respect doesn't dictates it's beliefs based on what others think of them. That is a sign of insecurity and identity crisis. You will continue to try to fit others wishes but that will never make them happy.

Lets not forget Pakistan is a major producer of roses and you have sent millions of revenue down the drain by banning an event which could have created income for thousands of poor working in flower industry, cakes, greeting cards, handi crafts etc.

We will instead celebrate something sick like 7th century political feuds of Arabia, and cut our selves to bleed in public streets for it, shut down the entire country, internet , mobile networks, transport causing billions of lose internal revenue as we all inconvenience to entire public.
Again, while your internal hatred of the other major sect is islam is literally spilling over. Id advise you not to drag in what is indeed a wasteful act and needs introspection by the scholars of that sect into what is a unrelated social issue. Not saying either are kosher or haram, but lets keep your sectarianism based on a geopolitical hatred out of this

Also, if you cannot stand the forum and have various wild conspiracy theories about it; i would suggest making a new thread about it so we can all help you slam away at your keyboard which you clearly are dying to do.

Pointless commercialism? Perhaps, but it can be fun in some ways too:

our Funny Valentine: A Quirky V-Day Gift Guide
by NICOLE SPECTOR

Valentine's Day is almost upon us, and consumers are shopping like crazy for the big day, with the NRF reporting that they'll spend $18.2 billion around the lovers' holiday.

The NRF cites jewelry, an evening out, flowers, clothing, candy, gift cards, and greeting cards as the categories that make up the multi-billion dollar pie. That all sounds like pretty conventional stuff, but rest assured eccentrics, oddballs, and lovers of novelty:
Cupid has plenty of fun gift options for you!

"Until just a few years ago, Valentine's Day gift seekers were limited to buying the traditional mass-produced cards and chocolate unless they purposely sought [other types of products] out," said Brent Shelton, online shopping expert at Fatwallet. "Online shopping platforms like Etsy have made it much easier to find personalized and custom gifts tailored to individual people. It provides consumers with a dual feel-good: helping small business and receiving something truly unique and thought out."

Here's a look at some of the more original and even eccentric gifts out there for your special someone.

Ironic Wine Glasses, Beard Kits, and Funny Undies
When you're in your early 20s, there's nothing quite so adult feeling as going to a wine shop with your sweetie and picking out a bottle of red that costs more than $7. Surely, you should commemorate this pinnacle moment by gifting this oversized wine glass — it can hold an entire bottle — that reads, "This is how you adult," available at Spring for $9.99. Perhaps you could add a humorous twist to the bottle with some of these punny labels available in sets of four starting at $15.99 on Jet.com. "Wine not?"

As so many men realize, maintaining the perfect beard or mustache is no small feat. Help him keep that precious facial hair in impeccable shape with a beard care kit. On Amazon, the Ultimate Beard Kit by Maison Lambert has a five-star rating. It will set you back about $65, but if this stuff it's all it's talked up to be, your guy may just reimburse you.

Maison Lambert
Not every girl desires lacy lingerie — so if your lady is a Star Wars fan, check out these coyly suggestive Chewbacca undies available on Etsy from the shop HappyHankie, for $9.75. If your sweetheart was one of those who took to the street during the recent Women's Marches, she may like these panties which pay homage to the hugely popular Facebook group (and soon to be actual book) Pantsuit Nation, and sell for $10 from Etsy vendor UnderstatementsShop.

Speaking of our bottoms, check out this Valentine's Day-appropriate toilet paper, available from JustPaperRoses.com for $15.62. For something that will literally be flushed down the toilet, that's ridiculously expensive, but the look of weirded-out surprise on your darling's face should make it worth it.

'Weird' Pillows, Insect Jewelry, and a Binge-Watching Survival Kit
Are you a total weirdo? If so, your quirks and eccentricities are likely some of your partner's favorite things about you. Here's a pair of pillows to snuggle up against with the significant oddball in your life. One says "I am weird;" the other says "I love weird." Etsy seller AndersAttic retails the set starting at $35.00.

Diamonds are divine, but you can get much more creative (and cost-efficient) this Valentine's day. Just about any type of jewelry you can dream up is available on Etsy, from this personalized fingerprint heart necklace starting at $39.99 to these butterfly earrings made with real monarch wings that start at $24.

One of the best parts of being in a relationship is binge-watching TV shows together. But when you're watching a series for hours at a time, you may have to frequently get up to stretch and refill on snacks and tissues (hey, these shows get emotional). Minimize the time spent taking breaks with a gift you can both enjoy such as the Binge-Watching Survival Kit.

urbanoutfitters.com
Available from Urban Outfitters for $20, the kit comes with face cleansing towelettes, stain-removing towelettes, hand cleaning towelettes, dental floss, breath drops, socks, coasters, a snack slip, a decision coin, folding sporks, tissues, and a sofa yoga guide.

Not So Corny Cards
Any gift is best served with a thoughtful card — but thoughtful doesn't have to mean clichéd. Here's a look at some less traditional cards that may make your partner laugh or even cry, but hopefully in a good way!

Like to cuddle up with your honey-pie and watch scary movies? They may want to tear open this Freddy Krueger Card. "You're horrifying," the card caption reads, alongside an image of Freddy's infamous striped sweater and bladed glove. The card retails for $4.95 from Etsy shop LazyFriend. You can also trade in the typical big red hearts for something a bit more accurate with this anatomical heart card for $5.99 from Etsy shop TheStaggeringTruth.

The math nerd of your dreams may appreciate this Isaac Newton card with the caption, "You're the solution to all my equations," sold on Zazzle for $3.35; while with this card, available for $4.50 from Etsy seller ClassyCardsCreative, assures your darling that for them, you'd put down your smartphone to hold their hand.

And don't forget the power of e-cards: you can find tons of funny (and free) ones over at someecards.com, like this one that will remind your lover that you're obviously the best thing that ever happened to them.

is Islamabad high court an islamic court?

Lol, every court in Pakistan is "Islamic" court to a certain extent.

A lot of the laws and constitutional foundations in Pakistan come from Islam--so any entity following that is "Islamic" in nature (although it's redundant to say that).

If you missed the memo, Pakistan is an Islamic Republic.

The move would make sense had everything else wrong in society including the ills you mentioned . That is like some plumber who has your entire house flooded but comes out proud of installing the garfen tap perfectly
Disagreed..I think the court is dealing with the issue at hand... If a person has cancer and also headache, the doctor can't say I won't give you a medicine for the headache until your cancer has been cured..no rather everything has to be taken as per its merit and right now it it coming so IHC dealt with it..the rest of problems are also being dealt or at least IHC cannot deal with all the problems..the other departments need to do their job.

You have a point, but when neither medicine is effective
What do you do?
Using the medical example, if you are in pain then doctors judge the amount of pain via a chart

In this case the pain is much much greater on the cancer front rather than the headache

Moreover, if you are able to treat the issues of general implementation of law and order, then the headache here(exagerrated imho as a threat to society currently ) will automatically cure itself

We shud not compare Basant with V day. Baant was there and celebrated for decades even during 1965 war over Lahore (U know what I mean :)) and it was banned mainly for safety reasons which was a good move indeed. But this V day is a very new BS brought in mainly after so called "Media ki Azadi". Before 2001 I literally did know nothing of what the heck is a V day but now even a small kid knows it all. And if banning V day makes other call me an extremist and ruins my soft image then so be it.
Valentine's day is a pagan (idol worshiper) holiday from Roman times. It was celebrated with open sexual orgies with little boys and girls. Why would we want to commemorate that filth?? We might as well start celebrating Kamasutra and Diwali.

Other day I was sad when Israel passed a bill to stop saying Azdhans and WHAT we doing not less than Jews. Our pesdo left wing start cry and posting filth on actions of ban Hijab ban burqa ban Adhans in west even in China and hypocrites feels good when we ban someone other religious festival. Pathetic

Sorry if I'm not so coherent and articulate because I'm also working on a technical thread :-)
Yes but Pakistanis have been living in an ad hoc system...Systems have not been developed or I dare say not allowed to develop...rather degraded over time.. thus such measures are necessary.. of course if people are provided thorough education and understanding, they won't require such directives and rules... For example no one obeys traffic rules because govt never paid serious attention to it...they never planned, never looked into the reasons.. but by sending a few police wardens, you cannot expect that all people will start behaving properly..The government needs to take the size of city into account, the amount of traffic and routes...i.e. the transport planning is a full fledge subject but our approach is to deal using force and nation has been told it so many times that they think stick is the only solution while what they don't know is that there are systems and elegant scientific solutions to deal with such issues..

I agree
But I believe we are relying too much on an already broken system to fix on its own. Democracy wasn't a bad system until you put actual humanity and the general ratio of 50% sheep into it.

Unless people want themselves to fix it
The best leader be it a dictator or democrat cant do diddly squat about it

You seem like an old timer, these days .... atleast in university campuses, the frustration is at both sides of the field and so is the effort to impress each other. :enjoy:

Agreed ... Good move by the IHC ... However, it's also islamic to make it easy, so that people can get married. As far as that goes, the potential husband's family is looking for a model like girl, while the potential wife's family is looking for a millionaire whose 25 and handsome ... and that's even when both the guy and the gal are okay with marrying each other ...

So, when you have conditions like these, where getting married is perhaps one of the most difficult things ... and you add to that the constant bombardment of romance tv-series/ movies which portray "true love" and affairs (BTW also against islam/ values/ culture) and you somehow expect the youth won't act on what you've been practically programming them to do since the time they were born ? ... In addition, if a teen kid asks you ... why shouldn't I love someone and convince me how the concept of free love isn't superior to this marital system? ... Most parents would whoop their kids instead of convincing them ... sure they will act all high and mighty with the " it's against our culture argument" after whopping their rear ends ... but that's not exactly a convincing argument ... and most parents can't make a logical argument worth jack for their position .... which is why we're in this predicament to begin with ... The solution is to include something like a "marital studies" course by the time a student reaches puberty. But then again, we won't do that ... Root-cause analysis and taking steps to get rid of that root cause isn't exactly our style ... :hitwall:
Great post brother. I could not agree more.

However I would like to add that there should be a Marital Studies course for the parents as well since they are the ones who ingrain their children with nonsense like "model jaisy larki dhoondna" to the son or "koi doctor anjeenier se sirf shaadi kerna". Also End Bollywood from being screened and stop all romantic shows and movies because they also form this false perception within the minds of youngsters about "perfect" marriages and extra-marital relationships

People don't like to compromise. They rather wait for that "perfect" one, and end up not getting married and resort to Zina for satisfaction. But I also believe economic reasons and lack of decent paying jobs and high cost of living is also responsible for difficulty in getting married.

Courts of Pakistan is now becoming the courts of ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTANI.
good very good.:pakistan:

I thinks the Liberals are preparing a dharna against it:rofl:

When Young people have access to P0RN which is not banned and implicitly is allowed in Pakistan.

Then what purpose banning celebrating Valentines day would serve.

First of all Pakistan should ban every western concept which effects the Islamic mindset which is corrupting the young ones. Be it internet or modern scientific education or modern movies. Only then it can control and purify the minds of young kids.
P0rn is banned in Pakistan.

Valentine can go die.

Ask us poor folks how much it hurts to spend huge sums on gifts.

That's quite an misinformation you have in your head my friend. No random guy does that any where unless you are in some dedicated place like where it is being celebrated like a party, gathering etc so better avoid those place at first, if not interested.
Guys in Pakistan do do that. Guys all over the world do that because they are sexually attracted to females. This is a biological drive. No normal straight guy approaches a girl without any feelings of sexual attraction of some kind. Otherwise he's not normal.
