by Mahmood Idrees | Published on October 9, 2017 (Edited October 9, 2017)
KARACHI – Uzair Baloch, a notorious leader of the Lyari gang war, on Monday made startling revelations in court, and also admitted to providing secret information regarding Pakistan’s security institution to Iranian intelligence agencies, local media reported.
- Baloch revealed that he had political support for crimes, including killing and kidnapping
- He made revelations in his confessional statement before magistrate on Monday
While giving his confessional statement regarding his crimes in missing persons case before the magistrate, Baloch said that he provided information regarding army installations and officials to foreign agents, adding that the Iranian agents had assured him of his safety.
Uzair, who was arrested by security forces after he mysteriously appeared in Karachi last year in January, was also once a loyal of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
The gang war leader said that he had also established a terror group named Peoples Aman Committee, and had confessed to killing many people, including police officials and government officers.
“I had political support for these activities, including transfer and posting of favourite police officers,” he said, adding that he acquired weapons during 2008 to 2013 which were used in the attacks.
In 2012, around 35 cases pertaining to murder, attempted murder and attacking the police had been registered against him.
He was also declared a proclaimed offender after he killed three men including Arshad Pappu, the alleged leader of a Lyari gang, his brother Yasir Arafat and their confidant Juma Shera in 2013.
On December 29, 2014, Interpol arrested Uzair when he was crossing into the United Arab Emirates from Muscat by road. Later, the Pakistani authorities confirmed the report and sent a team to UAE for taking him into custody but it was refused.
Later, the same team again visited the Gulf state several times in this regard and it surfaced on media that UAE had handed over the accused to Pakistani authorities, but there was no official statement.
Subsequently, Uzair Baloch had been arrested by Rangers personnel outside Karachi last year in January in what the paramilitary force said was a raid, Dawn news reported.

KARACHI: Infamous Lyari gang war leader Uzair Baloch on Monday made startling revelations in his confessional statement before a judicial magistrate in which he confessed killing security personnel and civilians, reveals the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report obtained by ARY News.
Baloch in his statement claimed that he had the backing of some political quarters. “The assassination of two Rangers personnel in 2013, [namely] Aijaz and Munir, were carried out on my directives in a bid to trap the opponents in the murder allegation,” the gang leader asserted.
Later, the bodies were desecrated to enrage the authorities against the opponents, besides killing – Khaliq – a relative of a former union councilor of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), he informed the magistrate.
He said his gang operatives – in numerous gun battles with police under command of SSP Chaudhry Aslam – killed as many as six cops and civilians.
The gang was also involved in a murder of another councilor namely Tanvir. During clashes with Ghaffar Zikri’s rival group, around five to six people of the area lost their lives, Baloch added.
He also confessed of receiving enormous extortion money from various public departments and business community members. “Fisheries department was prominent in the list,” Baloch claimed.
Over a number of attacks on police quarters, the notorious Peoples’ Aman Committee (PAC) chief said assaults on police personnel were carried out in various localities of old city area including Baghdadi, Chakiwara, and Kalari.
Extortion money
Uzair Baloch claimed to have received Rs 10 million from PPP legislator Faryal Talpur on monthly basis, adding that fisheries director Saeed Baloch and Dr Nisar Morai were also appointed on his reference.
He said he established friendly links with Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Karachi Waseem Ahmed, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Farooq Awan and his brother Shahadat Awan.
“I accomplished several tasks on their directives, besides extending my support to Awan brothers in land grabbing,” Baloch further claimed.
Eleven acres of land in Sammo Goth and Asif Mithal’s farmhouse were among these lands. “I received monthly 1.5 lakh from SSP Awan for rendering my services to him as group chief,” he said.
Making further revelations, Baloch said all cases against him were dropped after he approached former Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah and MNA Faryal Talpur on a recommendation of Senator Yousuf Baloch.
Party Tickets for Candidates
He claimed that the PPP issued party tickets to MNA Shajahan Baloch and MPAs Javed Nagori and Sania Naz on his request. “I left for Dubai after extensive consultations with Faryal Talpur, Qadir Patel, Sharjeel Memon and Yousuf Baloch,” he added.
Uzair Baloch also confessed killing a person involved in murdering Qadir Patel’s coordinator at his behest, besides assisting him in grabbing lands near Hawkes Bay.

JIT wants Uzair Baloch tried in military court for ‘spying’
May 02, 2016
KARACHI: As the joint investigation team found that Uzair Baloch had allegedly worked for an Iranian intelligence agency, it has recommended that the head of the outlawed Peoples Amn Committee be tried by a military court for ‘espionage’, it emerged on Sunday.
The JIT report signed by representatives of the Sindh police, Rangers and intelligence agencies was sent to the home department on April 29 for “perusal and necessary action”.
According to the JIT report, a copy of which is available with Dawn, Uzair Baloch was involved in “espionage activities by providing secret information regarding army installations and officials to foreign agents (Iranian intelligence officers) which is a violation of the Official Secret Act 1923”.
The report quoted the Lyari gangster as telling the members of the JIT that he fled to Iran after the Rangers launched an operation in Karachi in 2013. “He was living with his friend, Malik Baloch, in Chabahar, where he met Haji Nasir who held dual nationality.”
Nasir offered Uzair to shift to Tehran permanently where he would be provided a residence with no cost, as Nasir had “good relations with Iranian intelligence officers and he can arrange his meeting with them”.
As Uzair gave his consent, the JIT report said, a meeting was arranged where he met an Iranian intelligence official who tasked him to “provide certain information about [Pakistani] armed forces officials besides general security environment of the city [Karachi]”.
He told the JIT that of his 14 lieutenants, six were still living in Chabahar.
The JIT members “strongly recommended” to the government to try Uzair under the Pakistan Army Act for his alleged involvement in “espionage”.
Besides his alleged involvement with the unnamed Iranian intelligence outfit, the JIT report accused Uzair and his gangsters of carrying targeted killings on political and ethnic grounds.
He was also found involved in the killing of several police and Rangers officials and his arch-rival Arshad Pappu. He ran an extortion racket and was also allegedly involved in land-grabbing, ‘china-cutting’ and drugs trafficking.
The JIT came to the conclusion that Uzair Baloch and his PAC had turned the city’s oldest neighbourhood Lyari as his own fiefdom and “put the entire city in a state of fear where no one was feeling safe especially in and around Lyari”.
Uzair told the JIT that he kidnapped his rival Arhsad Papu, his brother Yasir Arafat and Shera Pathan and got them killed in order to take revenge of the killing of his father.
He told the investigators that certain policemen — Inspector Yusuf Baloch, SHO Javed Baloch and Inspector Chand Khan Niazi — helped him in kidnapping the three men in police mobiles.
Uzair said that the bodies of the three men were set on fire and later the remains were disposed of in a gutter. Then he threatened all eyewitnesses that “if they tried to disclose the incident, they will be murdered likewise”, said the JIT report The Lyari gangster also disclosed that even Rangers had sought his help when their two personnel went missing in Lyari.
He said that in March 2013, Sher Mohammed Shaikh alias Shero, said to be associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement who worked for him, told him that he kidnapped two Rangers personnel as they were collecting intelligence about Uzair’s gang.
Uzair said that he ordered Shero to wait for two days and “in the meanwhile, accused [Uzair Baloch] was approached by Rangers for getting [information about] the whereabouts of their missing personnel, on which he [Uzair] pretended to be ignorant about them”, said the JIT report.
“After confirmation of their involvement in gathering information about the accused [Uzair] gang, he ordered Shero to kill them with the intention that the MQM will be blamed for their brutal murders,” it added.
He also “confessed” that on his directive, Amin Buledi killed Pakistan Peoples Party leader and former Lyari town nazim Malik Mohammed Khan in Lea Market for his alleged “anti-Baloch statements” and making “fun of Baloch”.
He also told the JIT that a chairman of the Fishermen Cooperative Society, Saeed Khan, was giving him Rs2 million extortion on a monthly basis.
