VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (April 8, 2010) The amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) is at sea and anchor at Rudy's Inlet. USS New York is underway conducting training in the Atlantic Ocean.

ATLANTIC OCEAN (March 18, 2010) Sailors assigned to the deck department of the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) lower a rigid-hull inflatable boat into the water during a force protection exercise. USS New York is conducting combat system qualifications in the Atlantic Ocean.

NORFOLK (Nov. 18, 2009) The amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) arrives at its homeport of Naval Station Norfolk for the first time since it was commissioned Nov. 7. USS New York will be used for amphibious assault, special operations, expeditionary warfare missions, and humanitarian support around the world.

AVONDALE, La. (July 23, 2009) The first crew of the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) stands in formation behind Cmdr. F. Curtis Jones, commanding officer; Cmdr. Erich B. Schmidt, executive officer and Command Master Chief Robert W. Stocklin after taking control of the ship following acceptance trials.

(April 21 2010) Aviation Boatswain's Mate Airman Francis McCarthy directs an AH-1 Cobra helicopter, assigned to Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Squadron (VMM) 266, to land aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21). USS New York is underway conducting training in the Atlantic Ocean.



ONSLOW BAY, N.C. (April 21, 2010) A UH-1N Huey helicopter and an AH-1 Cobra helicopter from Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Squadron (VMM) 266 land simultaneously on the flight deck of the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21). USS New York is underway conducting training in the Atlantic Ocean.



ONSLOW BAY, N.C. (April 12, 2010) The amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) drops anchor of the coast of North Carolina before receiving amphibious assault vehicles assigned to the U.S. Marine 2nd Assault Amphibious Battalion. USS New York is underway conducting training in the Atlantic Ocean.
