Dividing Afghanistan into ethnic parts and merging them with neighbouring countries is not a new idea. When I was in Afghanistan, this same idea was brought up by Afghans themselves during discussions. Many of them thinks, this could possibly be the only permanent solution to their never ending ethnic conflict. I think Pakistan can surely bank on this idea and can increase it's population, land and therefore resources, plus once Afghanistan is merged, Pakistan will have direct link with central Asian states. Considering Pakistan will be a stronger neighbour, and some historical ties. Central Asian states will quickly fall under Pakistan sphere of Influence.
On the other hand Mid-eastern countries are begging for a daddy like figure to give them sense of security. Turkey in Qatar, UK in Bahrain are stepping in and building their permanent bases. Pakistan mid-east policy is a blunder, If Pakistani political and military leader show some spine, kick some ***, and create some permanent bases in ME. Now you are talking about an Empire. Empire like that of Timur the Great (Tamerlane). whose influence spread from central Asia to Mid-East. All Pakistan need is a leader with a vision and a spine.
