We are already aggressive. There is no "in case." So they are war plans. Pre-2008 war plans can go to garbage today. Our military might is at least double what it was in 2008!

With our 2000+ km range ASBM, J-20 stealth fighter and Type 095 nuclear attack guided missile submarine the whole operations area is under our control!

Well the plans seems old like @atatwolf stated. China will never go to war either for N. Korea or for Taiwan. That paradigm has changed in this decade. Today China supports for Koran reunification if a unified Korea will be an independant/neutral power between US and China, unlike today. Today South Korea is in US umbrella.

For Taiwan case, well it's clear that Taiwan and China will be able to handle their differences and become unified once again. Everything has cooled down a lot since the last decade. Chinese propaganda that is hostile to KKT has stopped and they are actually making business. Business solves most of the problems

The potential conflict is in SCS now. Also Senkako/Diayou is a tension point but I don't think it's gonna escalate that much. You know as I've said before, I'm more concerned about an accidental war between Japan and China. I don't think neither government is planning/considering for a full scale attack. However some accidental issue like a hot headed captain orders for fire and the other side retaliates and things get out of control.

Are there any control mechanisms between China and Japan to ensure the dialogue in such cases? Does anyone knows?

America have warplan on ANYONE, from United Kingdom to Antarctica. And the battleplan update every year. So if the 08 plan would have been useless in 09

Warplan is for general strategic planning, not something you can rely on solely. However, if you can steal the American playbook, then it would be game over for the America, cos you would know how every move was made and the logic behind those move.

Hi @Lure , the development of the Japan-China Defense Hotline is crucial in minimizing possibility of clashes, and when necessary, is useful for damage control. Here's an article written by the Diplomat 3 months ago discussing its implications:
