Featured US won't let Iran buy weapons from China, Russia, Pompeo says

Russia and Iran share a direct maritime border via the Caspian Sea lake. Why isn't Russia selling weapons to Iran covertly? If Iran falls it leaves the Russian central region directly vulnerable even more.

If deals are made publicly, the news of that is the biggest threat to transactions. But given Russian arms companies are already under sanction, it only makes sense for them to sell to other sanctioned nations.

At minimum, Iran could make small arms deals to buy upgraded AK models which feature minimal recoil that Russia has developed in recent years.

the only way they can do that is with a large bribe.

Trying to give the Russians and chinese something in exchange for not dealing with Iran. where as before this tactic was highly succesfull.. im not so sure it will be as succesful this time.

the geopolitical situation has changed immensly in the past decade. i would be really surprised if China would be intrested in such an exchange this time around.

it would sound an extremely powerful message if some major chinese defense system got openly sold to Iran. lets see what happens.

I will not count on the Russians at all. Remember, they refused to deliver (already paid) defensive weapons system to Iran because of Israeli pressure. Russia is a huge zionist country.

The Chinese are different but i am not sure about them. Perhaps like you said they can be bribed but the coming months will tell us if the Chinese really are our friends or not.

But he didn't say how..
because there is no effective way to..he's almost talking as if he's fantasizing...doesnt seem grounded in reality. for example, i dont know how US can stop a weapons deal between China and Iran if and when they agree. US will bomb the shipment??smh

There is a huge problem here, considering the fact that the worldwide banking is directly or indirectly tied to the US. They will simply target the company selling Iran the weapons ie. banning all their overseas accounts, freeze their funds and block any transactions that company does outside of China.

I don't know if there is a company that powerful in China that can handle the US sanctions? I doubt. Situation is not in Iran's favour. We will see.

thank you for your input on this, you bring up realistic points...BUUUUUUUUUUUTTTT>..i'm worried your argument underestimates China's capabilities...in today's world, US and CHina have equal financial capabilities, IF motivated. If China says yes to your economy, its hard for US to block it...all i'm saying is, dont understimate China, CHina is already a superpower...maybe not a superpower HOW US is a superpower, but China is a superpower non the less...

Putin is part of the Netanyahu-trump-modi zionazi faction. Putin is happy when there are arms embargoes on Iran.

Putin is there to be happy about the looting of Russia. Russia gets looted everyday by Westerners and Putin is there to facilitate this looting. A pseudo-nationalist.

Putin helps former client states to get SU-24s and other useless Russian junk that would get defeated easily in a war with USA.

Putin has no loyalties to Iran. Russia's loyalties are to Washington, Hell Aviv and New Delhi. And other neo-nazi regimes. If your hero is Hitler, then Putin is for you. Every neonazi in Europe and North America has Putin as their new Hitler fuhrer.

Export SU-30s are junk. Order 5 of them to reverse engineer the engines, so in a decade Iran can make their own medium fighters. Put long range AAM on Kowsars and they are better than export SU-30s based on cost.

You get 3X more Kowsars than SU-30s. Iran needs swarms of fighters to defeat an airforce. 1000 Kowars is better than 300 SU-30s. There is only a limited number of AAM a 5th gen fighter can have. Skip stealth, and go straight to having Kowsars having 5-6 drones with anti-air missiles and taking hits for the Kowsars - meaning they get in the way of a AAM about to hit the Kowsar.

1000 Kosars with 6 drones each is max 6000 targets. Stealth can be skipped with swarms, it forces your enemy to have max missiles, forcing them to abandon stealth.

Kowsars are 10X cheaper than 5th gen fighters. Iran producing 10 of them defeats the advantage of this. You need swarms of Kowsars. And have swarms of Kowsars commanding 6 drones.

Better for Iran, they should develop their own weapons, it's the better for them.
Better missiles made in Iran, than super-weapons made in Russia.

I still remember like it was yesterday, January 2012, when Kissinger visited Russia and three days after Russia said that it wouldn't sell S300 to Iran, in the context of Hormuz strait tensions.
The problem is developing your own weapons systems are extremely difficult. The Iranians have made great strides in their ballistic missile program but other conventional areas are sorely lacking, which is where Russia and China come in. For now, Iran's best bet is to continue investing in cheap asymmetrical warfare technologies and improving their ballistic missile forces, while trying to procure more up to date fighter jets/conventional weapons from other producers.

If I were Iran I wouldn't trust in foreign fighter jets in a real war scenario, maybe they start to fall from the sky in the worst moment.

In the last years we have a lot of strange accidents of that kind, specially I remember 2015 summer (Iran Deal summer), when it fall from sky one American and Russian fighter jet by week.

In a real war, if Russia has to choose between Iran or USA, they will choose always USA.

The only way of Iran to defend themselves is Hezbollah rockets, and Iranian missiles. And maybe someday, Iranian nukes.

US won't let Iran buy weapons from China, Russia, Pompeo says

US. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo vowed Tuesday that Washington would prevent Iran from purchasing "Chinese tanks and Russian air defense systems" as the end to a U.N. arms embargo against Tehran approaches.

While the European Union and U.N. disagreed with the U.S. decision to withdraw from an international nuclear deal in 2018 and reimpose unilateral sanctions on Iran, Washington was acting to "keep the world safe," he told France Inter radio.

"We are going to act in a way – and we have acted in a way – that will prevent Iran from being able to purchase Chinese tanks and Russian air defense systems and resell weapons to Hezbollah to undermine the very efforts that (French) President (Emmanuel) Macron is ably trying to lead in Lebanon," Pompeo said.

Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant group, has long been targeted by U.S. sanctions and is blacklisted as a "terrorist" organization.

But it is also a powerful political player with seats in parliament in Lebanon, where the French president is seeking to foster political reform.

"It's irreconcilable that you would permit Iran to have more money, more wealth and more arms and still be working to try and help disconnect Hezbollah from the disaster that they have created inside of Lebanon," Pompeo said.

The United States faces widespread opposition in a new bid to reimpose international sanctions on Iran, which has been progressively stepping up its nuclear activities since Washington pulled out of the deal in 2018.

It also wants to extend the U.N. arms embargo on the country expiring on Oct. 18.

"While the EU has made a different decision about that (nuclear) agreement, they share our concern about the extension of that arms embargo," Pompeo said.

The U.S., he insisted, would "continue to defend the international order to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from returning to its malign activity" in Lebanon, Iraq and Syria.

Iran earlier Tuesday warned the U.S. against making a "strategic mistake" after President Donald Trump threatened Tehran over reports it planned to avenge the killing of top general Qassem Soleimani.

Does China need Pompeo's permission to sell weapons ?

China can supply Iran weapon parts to upgrade Iran's homegrown system.

This is about the Arab states Vs Iran. Forget USA, Iran can never compete with Arab cash when it comes to Russia. No one will lose one of the richest buyers in the world to favour an outsider.

China is probably making the same calculations too, though it can afford to take the hit better than Russia - let's see if they decide it's worth it.

Remembering summer 2015, Iran Deal Summer.

Iran, are you sure that u want to spend the money in these things?

In the same date, a similar number of USA military planes fell from the sky :o:

...

And in January 2012....

https://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/20/...er-to-meet-with-vladimir-putin-in-russia.html (20 January 2012)

And three days later, Russian said that it wont deliver S-300 to Iran

In the context of... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011–12_Strait_of_Hormuz_dispute (when the zone was crowded of western warships, threating Iran with a war).

Russian ruling elite can't live without western luxuries and they are very easy to handle in case of future conflict with Iran.

China can supply Iran weapon parts to upgrade Iran's homegrown system.

China can supply mankind with DNA engineered virus too.
China is good for Han Chinese people and for nobody else.
It's a racist regime and it's the country less reliable of the world currently.

And they, like Russia, if they have to choose between Iran or USA in a real war, always they will choose USA.

Modern military technology can't be trusted by foreign countries, they are all with hardware backdoors by the manufacturer, and it's impossible for the buyer detect it all.
