The Space Shuttle and the Buran are not standalone vehicles. They are part of a larger system consisting of boosters, fuel tanks etc. A sharp contrast to US's Space Shuttle, Buran had its main launch engines on the Energia Rocket (equivalent - the huge fuel tank in the Space Shuttle), which it did NOT take into space. So that means a lot of differences between the two programs.
Also, Russians had their own reusable vehicle program culminating in the Buran.
You can find plenty of differences when it comes to anything non Chinese can't you. Your example on the engines dropping off at different times is less different then the difference between a spacecraft that has propulsion and one that does not. But keep up the double standards when judging things though.
