Do you think it's that simple?We use a nuclear device and the sanctions go away?Of course not.Look at North Korea.They have nuclear weapons now,but look how they are under crippling sanctions.In fact they can buy almost nothing except food and fuel from other countries.
The main reason Pakistan is not under sanction is that US needs you territory and cooperation in Afghanistan,because without Pakistan it would be very difficult and expensive for them to be in Afghanistan.

No we were under sanctions for a very long time and then more were imposed after we tested our nuclear weapons and yet we survived. The sanctions were lifted only after 9/11.
Do you honestly believe US gives two hoot whether Iran actually develops nuclear weapons and test or not. For them your nuclear program is a threat even if its meant for peaceful purpose because they are not willing to accept any logic. So it would be better for Iran to actually build nuclear weapons because that would in return provide a strong deterrent and stability in the region. Take example of India and Pakistan if you like in this regard. Nuclear weapons have proved to a deterrent in the region.
