I feel bad for the American troops even if nothing happened to them, because something might have happened to them. And that 'something' is most probably Tinnitus (ringing in ears). This condition is permanent and there is no cure for it. In this condition, one's ear(s) ring constantly which only the person suffering can hear. Some days, its volume is low, other days, it's volume is higher aka Tinnitus Spike. Day time are easier to get by but at night, patient suffers the most. Simply because you need silence to fall asleep and silence there is none. Ceiling fans' noise helps and then there is white noise machine - a small speaker in which you can hear rainfall, birds chirping sounds to help you distract from ear noise and fall asleep peacefully. I know all this because well, I suffer from Tinnitus.
