US Threatens Pak over Iran gas pipeline

Big test for our Government ----------- Are they capable and willing enough to take risk? Yes! Zardari is the best politician I have ever seen in my whole life time.

It`s not the question of what India get... but 65 reactors of 15000 MW. each... ummm .. means 97500 MW + some already you have.. hay you want to run pakistan or whole Europe will get power from you?:cheesy:

Any industrialized nation must have a MINIMUM of 1 KW of installed capacity for every resident in the country. That is for every 1000 people there must be 1 MW of capacity. Most industrialized nations actually have more than this but this is the minimum. Pakistan has a current population of over 180 million now and is going to be 360 million 40 years later. That means we need 180,000 MW now and 360,000 MW in the next 40 years. That is if Pakistan want to live a modern life. For comparison South Korea a nation which was behind Pakistan in every field only 40 years ago has 65,000 MW with a population of 50 million, it means 1.3 KW for every person.

US has 1,000,000 MW capacity which means 3.2 KW for every person
China has 700,000 MW capacity which means 0.8 KW for every person
Japan has 280,000 MW capacity which means 2.2 KW for every person
Russia has 220,000 MW capacity which means 2 KW for every person

In Europe situation is abit different though since some countries produce less but import their deficit from other neighbor countries since they are geographically close together.

And compare it with India which has a 159,000 MW capacity which means just 0.14 KW for every person.

And Pakistan has 21,000 MW capacity which means 0.13 KW for every person.

There you go.

This pipeline has no future until u.s is in afghanistan.it will be destroyed by proxies;)

Typical comment from an enemy of pakistan. Is that what you are hoping for? You smile at the idea of terrorist activity in our country? Shame on you. This project will go ahead. Pakistan should do whats in its best interest.

America is just a bully. Bullys run when someone stands up to them and thats what pakistan is doing at the moment thats why we are getting so much propaganda against pakistan

The presidents of Afghanistan, Iran & Pakistan will have high level meetings in Pakistan in the next week or so (I believe), so it really doesn't matter what the US says, it has no real stakes in the region like these 3 countries do.
We are already getting tired of this arrogant country USA...its all talkings are pouring over our deaf ears now...we don't care whatever it says anymore. cuz barking dogs seldom bite...let it bark, is gonna shut down as it gets tired by itself...:smokin:

The fact of the matter is that the pipeline project can not go through with the US vehemently opposing it.
So what is the most suitable course of action for Pakistan?
Dig in its heels to defy the Americans. Continue active engagement with Iran on the matter. Build up public awareness and consensus by activating the media. Nationalistic statements by various leaders. Protest marches, demonstrations, flag burning, the works. Create a deafening racket with an air of self righteous indignation against wrongful American interference in internal affairs of sovereign nations........All with the aim of ultimately and very grudgingly agreeing to give up the project for old time's sake. For a compensation of course. A hefty compensation at that. Maybe substantial US and EU aid to the Pakistani industry? Preferential access to lucrative markets perhaps?
I can think of other possible courses of action but would rather not talk about them.

I think Pakistan should try to include India as partner in the deal. It should lure India into the deal by offering minimum transportation charges . Having India as a stakeholder in the deal, it would be difficult for US to vehemently oppose the deal. I still remember when India had its first nuclear test, USA bark for a while , impose some unharming sanctions and then shut up. Pakistan could only perform its nuclear test after India had already done it , because, suppose if Pakistan was the first to test their nuclear capabilities, America would have waged a war against them. I think the same logic can be applied to the gas deal. If India decide to go with deal, Pakistan can leverage this to their advantage because in my humble opinion, India will hardly be bothered by America(or any other country for that matter) , if it decide to go with deal. Also India's energy needs can be realised to some extent by this deal.
