US strikes Taliban as Trump’s Afghanistan peace deal risks collapse
4 Mar, 2020 08:25 / Updated 15 minutes ago

A spokesman for US forces said that an airstrike targeted Taliban fighters in Nahr-e Saraj, Helmand, who were “actively attacking” an Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) checkpoint. The Pentagon insisted the strike was defensive and aimed at “disrupting” the Taliban assault, claiming that it was the first US attack on the Taliban in eleven days.

A blood bath is coming

  • If US leaves afghanistan and leave afghan army on its on : blood bath for ANSF
  • if US stays in Afghnistan the it will result in bombing campaing by taliban .

Pakistan step to barred the boundary line with Afghanistan was best timely decision. A war is coming. Pakistan is already aligned with winning side from past 20 years.

Taliban must finish off Afghan Government. They have nothing to lose and everything to win.

I am glad Afghan border is sealed. A heavy civil war is upcoming.

The peace agreement appears to be shrouded in mutual mistrust. Restrain may be possible though, provided the Taliban and Ghani Government can also establish a peace process between themselves. At present, a lot of stakeholders are left out, which includes US' NATO allies, Ghani Government, Afghan opposition, Iran, etc.

Afghan Army is upto no good again. They did same in past and called in US air support against a Pakistan check post.

it is US who is begging for peaceful exit. Taliban are in no hurry for peace deal.
but deal would have come to a fruitful end if Ghani.. the indian puppet will try his level best to sabotage and end tthe deal on indian wish and support.

This indeed appears to be the case right now. Ashraf Ghani is withholding Taliban prisoners on the condition Taliban break ties with Pakistan, which is unlikely to happen. Ghani's attitude may be on India's behest or maybe others as well and this could indeed sabotage the deal. But if the Taliban play their political cards right they might be able to convince the US/Trump that Ghani is a 'spoiler' and the US must withdraw its support for him. After all, the US is a major beneficiary of the peace deal. It mustn't let it die.

The peace deal is violence reduction not a ceasefire please remember that.

It's the misguided/misguiding media that tries to portray every such incident as some kind of blatant violation of the Peace Deal, adding to the confusion.

It will be a joke of the century of peace deal is blew up in smithereens by mayor of Kabul.

Laughs will be on those who signed the peace deal including US and Pakistan.

Seems like India is in a rush to thrash this deal and defeat all three members.

.
If the mayor of kabul thinks that he can some how reverse the violance reduction deal then he is wrong. It is called violence reduction for a reason and that reason is that there will be violence but spoiler who would try to sabotage the deal so the first thing which this deal imply is that both sides will continue the deal even if there are attacks to make sure the negative factors are discouraged and spoiler don't succeed in adding to Afghan misery.

the big question is on American Air strike on AFT..
they would have tried to stay calm instead of again going for confrontation.

Indeed. The peace deal might either unravel soon or bring the US and Taliban back to the table for a short dialogue. Personally I think there is a need for a series of dialogues between the US and Taliban. Though each time they meet it might be bad news for Ghani regime.
