US SHOULD LOOK AT NUCLEAR DEAL WITH PAKISTAN - SAYS RAND CORPORATION

No it requires pesky inspectors like what India will be having to contend with. We're good on that, don't need it

I was commenting on the offer made, not on what would follow on acceptance. WE can have any number of inspectors looking at the reactors out under safeguards. We have enough that we need which are outside. If you don't need a nuclear deal from the U.S., good for you. Maybe we can do with a lot less whining then.

we already got what we want there is no need for this deal

WILL NOT WORK FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT PAKISTAN HAS LOST CONTROL OF ITS STRATIGIC ASSET AKA MILITANT GROUPS

For that they may have to wait till the sun becomes a red giant or the stars start winking out signalling the end of the universe!! :P :lol:

US would grant a nuke deal similar to India if Pakistan would giveup its nukes. Most likely the RAND report is alluding towards this.

At one hand they say nukes in Pakistan are not at all safe at this moment of time and on the other hand they plan to offer Pakistan this nuclear deal . I suppose democracy hai bai :lol:

because u.s got the 6th largest proven reserves of uranium and china 14th largest..just for the record..india got higher reserves than china..

stop brain farting bro....

US-7.3% of world share (agreed that US is ahead of china here)

List of countries by uranium reserves - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Top 10 countries by uranium reserve - Serious Rankings

China having-2.6% of world share

meanwhile

India-1.1% of world share

i dont see india ahead of china :rofl: :lol: :omghaha: , i know that the wiki says as of 2009, but the REPORT is of 12/03/13 and there too i dont see india in reserves !!!

its not going to happen at all . No purpose what so ever to discuss this Matter .

Thankssssssssssssss for the Infoooooooooooooo:yahoo::sick::p:pop::partay:

IMO..Pakistan shud give up its Nukes and in return the US shud compensate it with a Nuke deal...India can also support such deal by declaring it will never use Nuke against Nukeless Pak

You must live on some distant GALAXY IN THE LA LA LAND.

No SANE person would even think about suggesting that to Pakistan.

Good one.:rofl::omghaha::omghaha::omghaha:

Keep dreaming.

We got China on our side why should we engage a nuclear deal with them..... :china: :pakistan:

and

this is again a strategy opted in their benefit, they will make us greedy, get us to cancel the current deal (which is being whispered of) with China (somehow) and then get us stranded in the middle of nowhere...

its better not to involve them in any nuclear deal and keep away as far as possible because they are better far away from us..

paying back for sacrifices made by the country can be paid off by other means too.....take an example of DEVELOPMENT,EDUCATION,etc..

A deal with the US would be good for two reasons:

1. If Pakistan has a nuclear deal with the US like the one US has with India, then Pakistan will also be able to buy Nuclear material on the open market. Two of the biggest suppliers of Nuclear materials in the World are Canada and Australia and both will sell to Pakistan if US okays Civilian Nuclear deal with Pakistan without Pakistan signing the NPT( as was the case with India).

2. Once the US signs Civilian Nuclear deal with Pakistan, it will no longer pressurize China under the NSG regime thereby making it easier for China to freely bypass NSG restrictions as in that case US will provide Pakistan with the same Exemption status from NSG requirements as it did for India.

In Essence such a deal will make life easier for both Pakistan and China by providing US cover for Pakistan-China Nuclear deals as well.

The RAND corporation is saying this, quite a surprising report coming from them.

That is what got my attention, @A1Kaid because Rand Corporation is an ultra right wing Think Tank and for them to ask US Govt. to consider Civilian Nuclear deal with Pakistan speaks volumes. If this is to gain Pakistan's support for Afghan reconciliation by asking Afghan Taliban to " PLAY BALL ", then that is a small sacrifice for Pakistan because that is already Pak Govt.'s stance.

RAND CORPORATION has some significance in American decision makers.

Some of RAND CORPORATION's reports find references in de-classified CIA reports.

However a nuke deal with Pakistan same as the Indo-US one, is not possible as Pakistan's case is contradictory to Indo-US deal justification.

Also, US went through great troubles over the deal with India (refer wikileaks) , what benefit do the get with respect to Pakistan for all that effort? Even if Pakistan-US get back to cold war era ties, how does it benefit current American perception.

If Pakistan signs NPT, the chances are of a same deal.
