The United States should give Pakistan the importance it deserves, believes Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Though the US has sought help from Pakistan to halt the Taliban advance while US troops are pulling out of Afghanistan, US President Joe Biden has not spoken over the issue with Prime Minister Imran Khan so far.

But Qureshi doesn't think Pakistan should worry over not receiving a phone call. If the US expresses disengagement with Pakistan, it puts them at a disadvantage too, Qureshi said on Geo News programme Geo Pakistan.

He said an impression was being given of tensions in Pakistan-US relations.

The foreign minister was confident that Pakistan and the US want the same things.
"America wants stability in Afghanistan, we want the same. The US is saying there is no military solution to Afghanistan, we are saying the same thing. They are saying a solution should be found through comprehensive talks, we are also saying the same thing," Qureshi explained.

"Let the Taliban and Afghan rulers sit together and decide their future," he said, adding that Pakistan is trying its best to persuade the Taliban.

He said that what Pakistan is doing is for its security and survival and for peace and stability.
The FM also spoke over Kashmir, saying that the Indian government uses the Kashmir issue for its domestic politics.

"India could not win the hearts of Kashmiris," he said.

Not desperation, correct strategy. At every cost Pakistan wants the US to involve in Afghanistan's peace process. We all know the future of Afghanistan, it is better to engage the US from all available media platforms. Because eventually blame will goes to Pakistan.
Afghan should try to live in Afghanistan. They all want to leave their land and when they reach foreign land they protest against Pakistan. In travelling around the world, i have never seen any Afghan who did some achievement, like Pakistani can be found CEO or CFO or great achievement in any corporate sector. All, I learn in Germany ... Germans hates them want them out of their country

1- Pakistan would never allow a Super Power to sit next to it, issuing threats. You deal with it. Off course it is not possible with force, so you do the planning and carry those plans out.

2- USA should know Taliban and Pakistan has patience and time on their hands. Their objective had always been USA out of Afghanistan at all costs. Doesn't matter how long USA can drag it, eventually, the losses would outweigh the benefits and it had to get out.

3- Pakistan also knew that India on the back of the USA doing planning to cause harm to Pakistan. They had all the evidence, including the one which never see the day light in the Public. So, the planning had always been to screw India/Ghani etc. with USA. The objectives achieved. It is matter of time, Ghani would catch a flight. Taliban had already making it hot, even though the Americans have not officially left.

4- Pakistan knew India is running the terror pods and financing terrorism right under the noses and a pat on the back from the CIA.

5- Pakistan had brought China under the radar and shared with them plenty of intelligence and their planning. Russian too knows a lot. That's why in last couple of years there had been a visible change in Russian's attitude towards India and Pakistan.

If this was expressed (and that is a big IF), it represents a perfect example of the obtuseness of our leaders around how they deal with Western Powers. Our culture of "Khusamdeed" (ness), is not a culture that is appreciated in Western circles. It is frowned upon and looked down upon. In fact Western culture looks at such mannerisms as "red flags". We on the other hand still want to operate with the West through our own prism. If the power dynamic was with us, then sure you can get away with it. But when the power dynamic is with the other, you must adjust to dealing in a manner that works.

Simply stating "The United States should give Pakistan the importance it deserves", is entirely juxtaposed to the very argument you are trying to make. For a western mind, it speaks to just the opposite and they are even less likely to do what you ask.

As already stated: the approach needs to be:

1) Make policy decisions without involving the West (while giving them a door to come in)
2) Never ask for respect - earn it through consistent and overt application of your policy goals
3) Exemplify through direct and in-direct kinetic operations your will and desire (allowing some of these to be openly shared, while others behind the scene sharing or after the fact.)
4) Always provide an open door (behind the scenes) to allow for rapprochement
5) Be precise, direct and to the point
6) Share a majority of your policy in a well formulated policy paper/doctrine and consistently drive it over multiple governments
7) Limit the number of government talking heads and spokespeople - have only official channels be the public front
8) Limit access to Pakistani officials and route interaction through a limited well coordinated set of people
9) Do not allow non-military people to meet Pak Military people in one-on-one settings - Army Chief should never be meeting Ambassadors/Envoys in one on one settings - Army Chief should meet his military counter parts at his discretion, but civilians should ideally only deal with PM/NSA and Foreign office.
