US says Vietnam must cut its trade surplus

This is nothing to smirk about, but rather it is sad and pitiful state of affair that East Asian countries allows the Americans to dictate to them on economic, trade, foreign, and internal polices.

Vietnam is indeed a winner in this trade war, but things could change fast for Vietnam and not in a good direction. For once, we are talking about trade war between two largest market in the planet. Trump has painted a tariff bull's eyes on vietnam, and it is only a matter of time before China do the same. Once that happen, corporations will avoid Vietnam like plague.
Its true thats VN should always aware of US-CN alliance to harm VN like in 1979.

But US economy is quite bad after 2008 crisis now, thats why US must try its best to destroy CN first.

I hope this is a wake up call for Vietnam. East Asians need to band together. Put aside differences. The East Asians will determine their own fate. Beijing wants to be free and have liberty - to do good. Does Vietnam want this or will they be some puppet of Washington.

A emerging economy needs trade surpluses or else they are running low wage sweat shops with no benefit to the Vietnamese.

No living wage for Vietnam and no saving money, but a future of debt and slavery for Vietnam. Is this what they want.

Slaves in the old deep south had jobs. But also had no savings. Vietnam is projected with this move to be worse off than slaves in the deep south, who were not indebted. Simply slaves. There is something worse than being a slave, what Washington is demanding of Vietnam and that is to be an indebted slave.

China had wage slaves, but they had trade surpluses so money/gold is flowing into China. This produces wealth and allows for that Vietnam wants, but won't get that because they won't be running any trade surpluses.

Without an inflow of money into Vietnam, from things other than debt, the debt monster will get Vietnam:

The money the Vietnamese make from their jobs, Washington wants that money exported to Washington, via trade balances. Normally, people can do whatever they want with their money, that is called liberty. Washington hates liberty. Washington wants the poor Vietnamese's money and they want that money now.
