US-Russian-Israeli Meeting to 'Contain Iran'

The US national security adviser, John Bolton, and his Russian and Israeli counterparts Nikolai Patrushev and Meir Ben-Shabbat will soon meet in West Jerusalem to discuss regional security issues and Syria in particular. This will mark the first meeting of its kind.

Western diplomatic sources told Asharq Al-Awsat on Saturday that the future of Iranian presence in Syria will be the main topic on the agenda of Jerusalem’s meeting.

The sources said the meeting was scheduled based on an understanding between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that a priority should be given to guarantee the security of Israel and support Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“The three sides should discuss a roadmap that makes the US and its allies offer incentives to Moscow in Syria, such as reconstruction, legitimacy and lifting sanctions, in return of Russia’s commitment to concrete actions related to containing Iran’s role and the political operation in the country,” the sources said.

Meanwhile, two rockets were fired on Saturday from Syria toward the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights causing no casualties.

Israel said the rockets were targeting the Mount Hermon (Jabal Sheikh) area and that one rocket landed inside Israeli territory, while the other in Syria.

A military spokeswoman said that the details were still being looked into and that it remained unclear who had fired the rockets and where they had landed.

On Sunday, the Israeli military said its aircraft struck Syrian army targets in response to the rockets fired at the Golan Heights, while Syria’s state media said three soldiers were killed in the second such flare-up in a week.

“We will not tolerate any firing into our territory and we will respond with great force to any aggression against us,” Netanyahu said on Sunday morning.

So topic is over in gulf for war..again in Syria.. they are lying to attack in Syria.. but numerical stats are against USA and Israel.teach advantage they have. After OiC meeting war clouds are over in gulf..I think Pakistan played very good role to contain this big issue which could destroy all Arab and hurt Pakistan which was the major aim of USA and its allies..

Bet me with million. There will be no war among arabs and Iran. If it happens whole world economy will be dead. And you know world economy is already on dead bed..China us trade war is hurting it already and it will be last nail in coffin if war broke out between arabs and Persian... guss what if oil supplies stop for three months to rest of the world and what will happen to Japan Europe China and USA and you know all major investors are Arab in the world business...so my million is on table. Look budy world dont work on possibilities. US used these possibilities to scared arabs and USA and Israel used to cash these possibilities..Ik went there to tell them forget about possibilities and look into realities and same thing conveyed to Iranians. Look if conflict happens in gulf who will be benefit Russia.. this is the last thing USA will want..USA dont give dame about arabs and Iranian. If they get chance they will kill both.. All nations buy or make weapons based on assessment on the possibility (potential conflicts) of war.. they make or buy more or less weapons depending on the probability (threats, circumstances, context, time, imminence...etc).. This is the norm for all nations..
IK told them what they already know.. and it will still depend mainly on the next Iranian move.. It is an extremely sensitive issue now, while waiting for the results of the commercial ships' bombings..The UAE and KSA might take it easier than the US.. who sees the world's economy as vital and hence it is what counts the most.. so if it has already been threatened.. it is a grave mistake by Iran.. and that is why its next move is being watched very closely..

The meeting wasnt about 'containing Iran' but to only discuss about Syria and Iran.

Syria isnt going to abandon Iran, one of its only allies.

Russia will never abandon Iran because losing Iran would be a geopolitical and economic disaster for Russia.
Russia would lose more influence and a US puppet Iran would finally build a gas/oil pipeline to Europe, ending Europe's dependence on Russia, Russia would lose its last leverage over Europe and lose massive amounts of gas revenue , its economy would continue to tank.

why this "world" and 500 million warriors cannot defeat houthi forces in 1 week? Small example of this so called unity... Moroccans, bought by saudi money, took part in aggression against Yemen. When one of their F16s was shot down, and the pilot grilled inside the cockpit, they run away with their tail between their legs.
