Japan is dangerous in that it can't win, but it can make others lose. Japan has never won a real foreign expedition in all its history from the Imjin War to the half century leading up to WW2, but it has inflicted tremendous pain on the path to its defeat.

China is simply biding its time as it knows it's growing stronger each year and its rivals are panicking.

I think china should launch an offensive to take taiwan and reassert its greatness. Now that Will be interesting.

the major problem however is that various officials in japan continues to make ridiculous statements/actions that are completely contrary to hopes for peace and better relations.

take for example, denials of sexual slavery(called comfort women, which i see as an insult in and of itself, its like calling rapes, surprise happy-time), massacres in WW2 and various other things. they aren't just some person saying this stuff in private, these are major elected officials in some of the highest positions of government, supposedly representing the people of japan making these statements. absolutely unacceptable yet it happens not once, not twice but again and again. how is china/SK suppose to form good relations with japan in light of this?

and you cant simply say its just one party saying this, yea sure but that party clearly has people in power and making policies.

china certainly has its share of nationalist hawks and people blinded by hatred and racism, but the official statements are always thought out and often does not contain any fiery language, so much so that experts wonder if a "democratic" china would be far more hostile to the US.

i think while most of japan would love peace and making money together, a few are spoiling it for the majority. think about it, the island disputes was on the back burner and there was even talk of joint exploration until one guys action to nationalize the islands

Dont mind them, let them keep thinking they are a super power. Loool the biggest mistake they can do is underestimate japan. Well their leaders know better, having learned from history, which Led to japan and the west /russia invading /humiliating china for a century, because they thought they were the middle kingdom. Lool the soviet thought the same like the chinese today in 1904 were russia had one of the worlds largest naval fleet (after the U.K). But their entire fleet was decimated by a much smaller japanese naval fleet, something which shocked the entire west/world. Afterall japan is still the only asian power to have defeated the russians even today. China was still an agrarian country back then and was the play ground for big World powers. So i call it pragmagtism, one thing i admire about their leaders is their pragmatism /realism. so they Will Just keep bidding their time untill the day they think they finally have the upper hand (which to be honest wont be anytime soon) .
