Bin Laden was a civil engineer. How do you steal a journal, most articles can be found online for free. Universities do not have sensitive technology on display. If it is able to be stolen it is not secured well enough and is the complete fault of the university.

Look like you know many thing bout US universities... then u must be knowing that many development work is done in their university... there are many critical research work are done in their universities... If a thief steal some jewel from your house , its not your fault.

Anyway, what technology are they talking about? I've never heard of creating a plasma on a wingtip to reduce drag.

Maybe they'll be using RF or microwave(more likely) to create plasma in front of the aircraft, which will dissociate the molecular bonds into constituent atoms, which will in turn decrease air concentration and rarefy the atmosphere resulting lesser drag.

There is not. My father had a visiting scholar rotation at a US university. He was not allowed to see the production process for a monocrystalline ceramic used in sensor applications, possibly military, that was to be characterized. The crystal was shipped to the university. Real technical secrets are completely hidden. it's the same case in China.

My university has research on radio absorbant (stealth) materials and coatings, laser materials and other things with military applications. The production process for all of these materials are secret. If it is worth hiding, it will be hidden.

Maybe I overstate the event like that.I know that from a leader of a vocational & Technical College who visited West Virginia in april 2009 and that water power plant visiting was cancelled temporarily instead by telephone conversation.He thought this event is weird and added that FBI headquater located there in a cave.
