US okays sale of 8 Global Response Cutters to Pakistan

Normally when the US deference site makes an announcement the follow thru is generally quite dependable

I have not come across any "reasonable" denial of the sale announcement

Plus it is just a minor patrol boat for coast guard

Since these were due in 2016 , and we are still in 2016 , who knows but if we can have some valid cancellation source would be nice to see if it is indeed cancelled deal

. . . .
Are you serious? Is there a clause that CSF would lapse if unused? If true someone in Pakistan establishment needs to be fired..

its not Pakistan's fault, the congress put a hold on the deal. btw its not CSF funds but FMF funds just like the F16 issue.

But why can't Pakistan use the funds for other items or even lesser number of F-16s. If not 8 get 4 of them.

.
What happened to the accrued CSF money? What is being procured if not the 8 F-16s?
It's likely going to go into either buying second hand F-16s from other nations, or going into further development of the Thunder program.

We were discussing global cutters , which are a civilian ship with minimum weapons , can't be compared to F16 , which was also offered by obviously the price and other incentives were not there

I highly doubt the 8 Global cutters would make any difference in regional balance but it does helps us control Smugglers and patrol more of the shoreline successfully preventing criminals from using sea route

Many countries do make bigger , more useful global cutters as well

I know, but he asked a question about the F-16s, and I answered.

It's been a year, and I remember reading a report that congress blocked the sale, because it wasn't deemed that the cutters would help Pakistan fight terrorists.

Honestly speaking, I don't have much hopes for further US-Pakistani direct military sales. It will likely happen indirectly, due to the fact that the US still considers Pakistan a close ally, even if it is in bed with India right now.

Pakistan should honestly count its blessings, as it could have very easily ended up in a worse position, if ZeA hadn't happened.

Pakistan should look at this as a sign to start investing in its own industries, and at alternative suppliers, such as South Africa, Brazil, Turkey and Russia (China is obviously already a major alternative supplier).

Pakistan already switched to Chinese MPV because US didnt want to conquer india with their mighty GRC. From what i can see in same amount we are getting two 1500 ton and 4 600 ton capacity MPV which is far better than those plastic GRC.

Pakistan initially ordered 36 F-16s Block 52+. 18 were delivered, leaving 18 more on the initial contract. A follow up order of 10 was placed, leaving 8 left.

Is the problem the actual sale or the use of FMF for those sales like the F-16?

Well it would be interesting to see how we will fill this tremendous gap in the future

What does this MPV stand for, is it multi purpose vehicle? 4600 ton MPV sounds unlikely, I think vessels with 1500-3000 ton displacement are used for that purpose.

Its not 4600 mate i said four 600 ton MPV

600 ton = 4 MPV
1500 ton = 2 MPV

Also they will equip Pakistan Coast gaurds not Pakistan Navy.

Its martime patrol vessels same as global response cutters which can operate in shallow and blue waters.

Why can't 2000-3000 ton vessels operate in deep sea? I'm just curious.
